Having a heated discussion at work after I said this to one of my guys at the job (older 50+ year old breh) some of the other names people threw out was Marino, Rodgers and Elway. Edit: I think yall are confusing best you ever seen with GOAT which takes into account shyt like MVPs and Rings. I'm just talking from a strictly talent based, arm talent point of view. Accuracy, arm strength, mobility, IQ and all that.
I don't watch football a ton, but Some folks gonna say he's not black but we taking over It's over, black QBs are here to stay
GOAT and best are different, so definitely not the GOAT as he's so young right now. I absolutely see the argument of him being the best in terms of overall arm talent, mobility, etc. I don't see the big difference between him and Rodgers though. It's not a knock on Mahomes, but he's been surrounded with a much better offensive cast, so it's sometimes tough to evaluate and compare him against Rodgers.
Impossible to say. The game has changed a lot in the last 10, 20, 30 years. But Mahomes is a good quarterback and he stands out among his peers in 2020. That's what matters.
Yes cause he can does stuff ive never seen U like cant sack him. He back pedals and throws at arm angles no one ever has. When 99 percent of qb run out of bounds when getting chased. He will run contort body and throw it 40 yards The way he runs around the line scrimmage but never goes over the line and gives himself a few extra seconds is crazy He can throw in pocket as well as out of pocket on run etc He sneaky athletic as well 103 td 20 int 2.5 years prob gonna be 2 mvp as well
When Marino threw for 5084 yards in 1984, it was a freak season. 400+ yards more than 2nd place. Nobody had ever seen anything like that before. And not even for many years since. When Mahomes threw for 5097 yards in 2018, he was 2nd in the league to Ben Roethlisberger. The league is so different now... with different rules, different offensive strategies, far more complex scouting and analysis. It is unfair to compare players across eras like that. It is worse with the NBA but these all time arguments ....if they're not a waste of time, they certainly need a ton of context.
Yes. Never has there been a player I have been more sure of after their first few games. When dude steps up in the pocket & cocks back you just a big play is coming. Off the eye test he's top 3 for sure. Resume wise imo he would only need 1 or 2 more rings to solidify himself as the GOAT to me. That Chief's team last year wasn't built for super bowl contention. Defense was bad, running game was gimped etc. Its rare for a team to get carried to a Lombardi soley off QB play when the rest of the team is bad. Its not supposed to happen. Look at Marino's career. "Defense wins championships". Pat did that last year with his arm. And not just the superbowl, the entire run. Including regular season. Dude has my vote of confidence right now, no doubt he can win another 2 and snatch the title for sure
