I dont get why we do this. Why do we make this complicated or treat the HOF like its some holy place? What more do you want? 1000 yds every year for a decade plus (I think 2nd is what 8 years IIRC) and 100 TD...thats HOF worthy. Compiling and consistency are noteworthy. This is especially true in the NFL where careers are so short and dudes fall off like its nothing. You can be a HOF and nowhere near GOAT or even the best of your era.

RB counterparts like Bettis and Martin got in with no problem. I dont know why people act like this with WR.

What do you mean some Holy place? It's the highest honor an NFL player/coach/etc. can receive. The standard should be high and I believe it is a pretty high standard. I don't think the NFL wants it to become like the Pro Basketball HOF. And, as I said before, what makes 1,000 special? It's just an arbitrary round number that has been used for years, yet the NFL had gone from 14 to 17 games over the years. I agree with you that longevity and consistency as important factors, but I believe peak+prime should be value much more. The HOF should be for the most elite.

I would have been fine with Bettis not making it. I've said that for years. And, this has nothing to do with him playing for the Patriots, but if Bettis is in, then Corey Dillon should be in.

Nobody else has done it, thats what makes it special. With all the rule changes and schedule expansions he is the only one to do it.

The HOF needs to place the players who stats were complied with way less games played in their seasons from mafukkas in this era who had multiple games added to their season to stat pad.

Mike Evans so far below a wr like Jerry Rice. :dead:

He ain't HOF worthy.
But ofc they gone put his ass in. :mjlol:

Evans averages 14 games played per season.

If you canceled out this season, over 11 years of service, he averages 15 games played per year.

So even with these extra games, he's done what he's done while playing less than a full season on average.

He's going. It will be deserved. It is what it is.
