Man I'm 29, and I remember those HS days. I'll never forget being the bus going home from school, dudes got on thru the back door and robbed and stabbed another dude up. Bus driver was trying hard to ignore that shut cause he didn't want any problems. I boogied my ass off that bus asap. Some dude got slashed in my hs hallway. NYC in the 90's was pretty .

i can relate to this. my moms came from a tiny ass town in DR on the hillside to NYC during the crack era. the paranoia was real i was scared of black people til i actually got to school and ended up with almost all black homeys.

we had so many dopefiends and crackheads that living in my block was like living on the set of walking dead, true story. i remember being little and my dad always covering my eyes when we came home because there would be passed out junkies on our stoop and in our hallways and the ones that werent passed out were shooting up or smoking. my building was a fukking trap house. i never realized the danger we were in til i got older cause i was so used to it. more than once shyt popped off while we were coming home.

on one occasion, and this is a 100% true story, we were coming home from my godmothers block on 134 between broadway and amsterdam and we stopped cause we saw sammy sosa. sammy just came up with texas that year and he had a shorty on that block if i remember correctly from what my pops told me. he was there like at 11:30pm chilling drinking beers and my dad stopped to say hello and we just heard like 10 quick gunshots go off. everybody ran into the building including sammy. shyt like that was just normal.
