The thing I hated the most about that Harden trade is they didn’t even wait until the end of the season or arguably the All star break to ship Harden. They did days before camp started and then tried to force the narrative Kevin Martin was his equivalent just because they averaged the same number of ppg

Waiting til the all star break woulda made shyt real awkward especially if the team was playing well

Trading him the days camp and forcing him to sign the contract was better?
At least if you hold out til the break you could see how the team progressed and even guided him a little more to stay at a discount. (He still probably leaves because he didn’t get his big contract yet, but who knows maybe you guilt him) it’s worth a shot

Yes. Remember, back then the deadline to sign those extensions were the first week of the season. If he wasn’t signed by then, he was gonna have to wait til restricted free agency.

Not at all. Orlando lost Shaq. Cavs lost Lebron. So many franchises ended up making bad decisions or losing free agents. It happens.

Is Sam really great tho? He didn’t have the forsight to see where the league was headed.. He could have easily decided to keep Harden and trade WB.. he would’ve been called an idiot at the time but he would still have Harden, KD and Ibaka or some variation.. prob won a chip by now..

He chose athletic over skill... this is the end result

Theres no way the owner was gonna let him pick westbrook over harden at the time. Westbrook is good at fronting and at the time he had people fooled that he was a better prospect than Harden who was made to come off the bench.

And that’s why owners should be hands off and let the GMs do their jobs

The owner's only mistake I can think of is the Harden move (which is one of the worst ever, obv), but he's probably managed everything since relatively well.

Their front office has instances of being all time WOAT on both ends. Their GM had one of the best stretches of talent eval-ing ever, but has so many guys that could be helping rn somewhere else. They bricked on the type of coach needed to develop their roster twice. They could easily be the dynasty of 2010s if a couple things bounced differently and they kept harden instead of russ
