Another thread about this shyt :unimpressed: every few months there's a thread debating this topic regarding the word...y'all weirdly obsessed with this shyt.

:mjpls:
I don't want or need profanity/vulgarity in all my r&b, and I think a lot of people feel the same way

a lot more than what's necessary is vulgar nowadays, sometimes I just wanna throw a mix on and get some more uplifting/innocent not as sexually in your face vibes

Maybe R and B has a underground where the vulgarity isn't as prevalent or nah?

Low-key modern women like dirty talk and porn so that is why the R&B is more vulgur and pervasive.

Shyt is so normal in these records sometimes you will forget it has cursing in it :pachaha:

Like I will be driving with moms or my niece and throw on what I think is nice easy listening music, and hit the :picard: when I realise how much cursing is in even the songs I thought were ok songs to listen to around the family :pachaha:

I be thinking about a week beforehand

:jbhmm: I should make a playlist for the fourth or some random family get together. then I'm going through music I can play around the elderly without getting an earful about what the young kids are hearing

about 30 minutes later listening to songs and the hook ruining it, a verse with too much going on in an otherwise sanitary song etc etc I'm like

absolutely... probably more than there has ever been.
Look on IG and youtube, they are all over...

Its just not the popular avenue today. It could change in time...

So Feenin’ and Freek’N You are in the same realm of Forever My Lady and Stay?

Y’all arguing how vulgarity has always been apart of music but users that can read know this is about the bluntness of the lyrics.
That's a 4-5 year gap. They were adapting to the times.
RnB was changing rapidly, they wasn't the only ones.
People just want to make them the poster childs for "thug n B" cuz they were one of the hottest and wore all black and timbs ( Diddy/Uptown influenced)

R&B has always been about sex. The shyt then was no better. Yall kill me with constant bickering and selective criticism of todays music. At least R&B today aint promoting indulging in debauchery with underaged females

FOH!!!!!!!

You can talk about sex without using profanity at every sentence.

The song you've posted is subtle. It's not 'n-word' trash talking that people pass as RnB today.

The only issue here was the age of Aaliyah.

Anyway, 'let me show you to ecstasy' =/= "eat the ass like it's grocery".

Minnie ripperton was making songs about getting nutted in, Bobby womack was fukking everybody's bytch, bootsy Collins was eating p*ssy, eddie kendricks was serenading his fukk buddy, smokey robinson was fukking a hoe behind his girl back, confunkshun was beefing over the same girl in a game of "love's train", and marvin gaye was turning out Christian girls :mjlol:

Music hasn't gotten more vulgar, artists just don't have to beat around the bush as much because of censorship :yeshrug:

What used to be spoken through innuendo can now be flat out said
It has. That's why most of your example are about these people private life, not the music.

If we could count profanity used in THE AVERAGE RnB song 30/40 years ago and today, there is no discussion.

Sex is not vulgar but the way you talk about it makes it vulgar. The innuendo is what made yesterdays music less vulgar and more subtle.
