It takes a lot more intelligence to be subtle and the modern world is so desensitized and basic that it needs the shock value to be ever increasing in order to stimulate.

In part this is due to the artists that are pushed and in part due to the populations engineered desires and needs that they don't truly realize aren't their own nor in their best interests. In terms of frequency the vibration rate on society as a whole (of which art is a key expression of) has been ticking down steadily making Idiocracy seem inevitable.

I heard an absolutely amazing RnB track from Chris Brown in someones car..sounded like some 90s gold..
But..it was littered in cuss words. Unnecessary even..swear words just thrown in to be edgy or something and it ruined the song.

I gave up on hiphop and rnb years ago when I saw how the situation was going to get worse before it got better..
