Not in my feelings at all. Dudes are suggesting a rapper isn't relevant despite their current and recent success unless that rapper meets their quality criteria.

what success tho?

he had that "yep/nope" song a few years ago that turned into a flukey hit, and it seems like hes trying to recreate it with some of these songs that I just listened to after that link dude dropped on the 1st page.

other than that, I cant think of anything else that hes done in well over a decade.

im sure hes still a big deal in the bay, which is prolly what youre basing your entire argument off of.

THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM.

just because you continue to linger around the industry and do collabos & interview spots, it does NOT mean that youre automatically relevant. it means youre just around.

if theres no real public demand for you or your music, then you are not relevant.

If you don’t understand the importance of KRS and Rakim why would your opinion even matter?
Cheap dap shyt.

They're legends no doubt, but their importance was to rappers of the 90s. They not on no Michael Jackson shyt, no 2pac shyt, no biggie shyt. They haven't transcended their era. Only 90s rappers put them in high regard. This not my opinion, I'm being real. nikkas never talked about them growing up, they important to our dads and shyt, nikkas in they 50s. You're:flabbynsick: so i expect you to think this shyt is blasphemous but:yeshrug:.

40 got fans from nikkas in they 50s to nikkas in they teens. That's my point.

maybe out there in his weirdo market.

but on a national scale, his name shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as them.

I'n sure The Booth has some of the dumbest people around. No wonder why it's lost so many posters and is in a bad place. KRS-One and Rakim are hugely relevant, KRS-One is booked all around the world on a regular, he's touring almost constantly. He's getting money on a regular basis and has been for decades. KRS-One and Rakim are living legends, like saying MJ and Prince weren't relevant cause some singer sold more than 1 of their later albums. Legends are always relevant because they earned their status.

I liked e-40 but hes not no dam bay area pioneer.

that distinction goes to people like too short, mc hammer, digital underground, etc.

the bay was already established long before e-40 became known nationally, and he didn't do anything to advance it on a national scale.
:rudy: Short, Hammer and Digital Underground would all disagree. So would anyone familiar with bay area rap.

theyre prolly his friends and will say that just to be nice.

and im very much familiar with bay area rap.

the problem is, youre arguing from a homer perspective - which is something you cant do if youre listing off pioneers.

if he was a pioneer for the bay, that means he either:
A.) helped put the bay on the map.
B.) helped take the bay scene to greater heights and brought in more outside fans.

e-40 clearly didn't do any of this, so why are yall crowning him as a pioneer?

So E-40 didn't help put the Bay on the map yet he's known as the Ambassador of the Bay and is probably the first rapper people think of when they think of the bay...you got it chief.
