With Ben Johnson gone, Goff being mid once the end of the season/playoffs roll around, I think the window is closed. Next year they need to make a legit playoff run otherwise it's likely closed for the time being.

I don't think it's closed, but they have to make some changes and stay healthy. Last 2 years had a lot to do with health, especially defensively.

Problem is Goff. He ain't it.

Lions best coach in its entire history left to go to coach the Bears and Lions wasn't going fire their best head coach since the 1950s.

This is the reality of a CEO situation. Ben Johnson was a generational playcaller, and Lions was in a situation that they had to show loyalty to the coach that got them there.

Campbell got to find top echelon play caller/coordinator. Sheppard looks phenomenal. Morton ain't it.

CEO model just isn't sustainable
The Ben Johnson year 2 fall off gonna make a lot of people look foolish, lions need a swap at qb and some o line boosts and theyll be back in form, team was riddled with injuries as well.

A down year was a .500 year, mike Tomlin been getting pats on the back for this same stuff now Campbell is just a ceo :dahell:

Unless they wanna take a risk and trade for kyler or tua in hopes it gets them over the hump (It won’t) It’s over

Tua has never won a game when the temperature drops below 40. He's not surviving Green Bay and Chicago. That's not even accounting for his injury history and contract.

I might prefer Kyler to Goff for his athleticism but I wouldn't make that trade.

If it's not a move for Lamar there isn't an upgrade for Detroit. They'll have to draft Goff's replacement. They should just go heavy with the running game and limit his throwing.

:mjtf: he got them to the playoffs with trash.

It wasn't like Goff go there and the window opened. It was they stopped switching coaches each year and got talent. If you can't agree to that then the window hadn't been open for over 2 decades.

None of this recent success can be attributed to Goff
He only got to the playoffs 3 out of 12 seasons in Detroit (and had double digit wins twice). If it was all him, he surely could’ve gotten there more times than that. The only time Detroit looked like they were on the come up when Stafford was there was when Caldwell was coach, then they fired him for Patricia :mjpls:

The difference between Josh Allen and the bills window compared to Goff and Detroit

Allen can win the games with his arm and legs and can play outside of the game plan

Goff is a play action QB and Mcvay saw that shyt and was like:camby:

The biggest issue with the Lions this year, they threw Montgomery into the trash and relied on Gibbs too much.

The last two years it was Sonic & Knuckles, and now it's just Sonic.

Combined that with Injuries and Off./Def. Line play being subpar, this is what happened.

Needs
  • Offensive Coordinator
  • Offensive Line and Defensive Line help
  • Either find a replacement for Montgomery or get back to Sonic & Knuckles
  • Find a Jordan Love project to work behind Goff. The key is sustainability, and Goff is at the point in his career where he is not part of a long-term plan. If Goff gets upset about it, fukk him. The reason why the Packers ruled the NFC North is that they ensured a signal caller was ready to lead the team.
