G'kar from Babylon 5 (great show) said it best.
Why does any advanced civilization seek to destroy a less advanced one? Because the land is strategically valuable, because there are resources that can be cultivated and exploited, but most of all - simply because they can. You have experienced much the same on your own world. There are humans for whom the words "never again" carry special meaning. As they do for us.

I do. They landed, were taught how to survive by the native americans. They then decided they wanted everything and killed them all.
Both totally wrong. Before the revolutionary war white and red relations where pretty good. They coexisted in relative peace, they traded amongst each other. Helped each with agricultural secrets. White folks even sold black folks to native Americans as slaves. When it came time for war the native Americans sided with the British, and fought and killed the colonists. When the war was over the British packed up and left, leaving no type of assistance for the natives. The remaining colonists had a deep hatred for the natives due to their actions in the war and they systematically made an effort to eradicate them from Amercia, they were looked at as traitors and savages for killing American citeizens.
Most of you dudes in here presenting your opinion don't have a real grasp on American history. The truth lies way beyond what you learn in school, or see on tv/movies.

So they didn't do it for the land, or for the natural resources? Interesting. Tell me more.

So they didn't do it for the land, or for the natural resources? They expended hundreds of millions in resources and committed genocide just because they were mad? The colonists were unlikely to expand after the war until they got pissed at the Natives? Interesting. Tell me more.

Before the war there were treaties, saying which lands could be expanded to and which couldn't. Before the war nobody knew what was out west, they didn't even know there was land there that could be settled.
I'm not saying that the whites didn't take over the lands for resources. I'm saying that after the war relations changed and whites were less likely to treat them with respect and peace talks went away.
Another point he failed to address is, WHY WOULD THEY SIDE WITH THE BRITISH IF IT WAS ALL GOOD.
Its because those colonists were grabbing up more and more of their land and they didnt LIKE that. The british promised to keep Americans out of their lands. Once the war was over and treaties had been established, americans renigged and took the lands anyway which caused more war and the defeat of the natives. Stop it.
They werent treating them with respect before the war because their settlements were encroaching on their lands which is why they sided with the british in the first place. Thats like one day a known area in your city becomes hood. You may not be feeling it. You go to another city and these same hood clowns are there, settling in. People are going to feel a way about that. Especially when they only thought you were ging to be contained to a certain area. The settlers got greedy, natives got pissed and wanted their expansion halted. They lost.
