And Clooney isn't A List...he gets nominated for a few things, which is very questionable because of his big shot Hollywood friends but he doesn't carry movies or has stand out performances on his own at all on a consistent basis. Never have. That Ocean Stuff wasn't about him..it was the cast.

Getting off-topic, but:

I agree somewhat with this. I was actually thinking about Clooney the other day ( no homo) and how even though he's treated as an A-lister and he has that A-list old Hollywood aura about him, pretty much none of his movies put in an outstanding performance at the box office. He's friends with the Hollywood elite though and good-looking so I guess that keeps him at the top and talked about. :hulkshrug:

Outside of the Ocean's franchise, Perfect Storm and Batman & Robin (), he's not someone you go to if you want a $100+ million dollar box office. I think he's more interested in doing projects that interest him anyway and isn't out there trying to compete for the next blockbuster, so good for him.

On topic, hell nah. I think of Denzel, Will and the like when I think of A-listers. Like someone said, he's a household name, but I wouldn't go see a movie just cause he's in it (and he's one of my favorite celebrities, btw). Honestly, a better question is why isn't he a bigger action star given the void in the genre right now?

No doubt he's WAY above the E and anything they could do right now, but that "he makes money" excuse can only be used so long. He's in a place right now, but based on his movies, he's not A list yet. I'd love to see him get a good ass role as the solo lead so he can have his breakout moment.

I like Anne Hathaway but she's not a bigger star the Rock. She got that nomination but she's not bigger box office than him. Pitt usually is but he doesn't drop bigger movies than the Rock these days and neither does Jolie.

Bankable? Besides Dark Knight Rises, what franchise is she carrying or moving numbers in? LOL. She's Oscar nominated. Legit. Complete. But she's not making summer blockbuster money or dropping 5 flicks in one year or doing Superbowl commercials...nothing like that.

Her movies DOES NOT make money. What on earth are you talking about? Anne Hathaway? She has no record breaking movies under her belt..she did a bunch of Princess movies, Get Smart starring the Rock, that Havoc DVD release where she showed her titties, that movie where she punched her mother, etc. She does critical roles.

Will Smith won't be getting any Oscar nods NO TIME soon but he's A List because he puts some shyt out every July that makes money because of the same lemmings falling for his schtick.

he's pretty much going to be stuck doing the same tough guy roles just based off how he looks ...i doubt he has a problem with it. But his range is comedy and action. I mean he wouldn't be credible doing a role in say the departed or playing a blind guy like pacino did in scent of a woman...but one day he will try something that challenged him like Vin Diesel did with find me guilty almost a decade ago
