 1on1 then & 1on1 now look very different*

Exactly. Back in the day MJ could isolate an entire side of the floor on 5'3" Muggsy Bogues and his teammates get called for illegal defense just for wandering within 20 feet of them.

Whereas today you can just camp in the driving lanes and wait for the player to come to you:

Defensive concepts and schemes may be more complex than ever but that dont mean shyt when players are allowed to travel, carry, push off with their bigs throwing out illegal screens every other possession uncalled. All the while defenders cant touch players, cant handcheck, defensive 3 secs.... We had nikkas playing defense on some players with they hand behind they back b/c of how abusive offensive players have gotten :mjlol: Giannis b2b NBA MVP was getting shut down by Brazilian 40yo PGs overseas looking lost without NBA rules and spacing and come back to be a league leader NBA in scoring :picard: crying about it being harder to score overseas with the packed paints and having actual defensive rules :why:

NBA is done :wow: I still watch but when this era the Bron, KD, Steph, Kawhi and em is over and we get the next batch which most already here I may stop if they dont allow defensive rules :scust:

Luka and Giannis the 2 faces of NBA for this era and the next decade both Euros coming into the league and sayin hol up :ohhh: this shyt easy right here boi :mjlol:

You'd think after Olympics with all the USA stars struggling except KD nikkas eyes would be opened to the type of rules and officiating in NBA :sas2:

Do y’all even like sports or do you just like to complain? A lot of y’all too caught up in the past and refuse to enjoy the modern game.

You dumb as fukk when Looney is literally camping in the lane waiting for him on this play and KD is in the lane (would be illegal defense in MJ's era) on the other side. :laff:

So you can't even deny that the Warriors played a strong, giant zone triple-teaming Bron in the final seconds with the game on the line, and were playing a softer zone on the previous plays. Those were the BEST plays you could come up with to prove there was no zone? Do you even know what this conversation is about?

I can show you dozens of similar plays where the Warriors hedge on LeBron in ways that would be illegal in MJ's era. Here's multiple plays from another Finals game, look how defenders are waiting around defending space instead of defending Bron's teammates.

@CHICAGO just quoted that post and completely ignored MJ getting hemmed up by Muggsy on a one-on-one iso. JJ Barea a good 7" taller than Muggsy and flopped to get the call on Bron while MJ got bailed out by the refs. :lolbron:

Comparing those plays looks even wilder. Check out how crazy the zone is that Dallas is playing on Bron for those Barea defense plays:

z8DYUTY.jpg

Supposedly this is "Bron being passive against Barrea", but is Jason Terry not right there on the double-team, not having to commit to anyone? Watch the whole play, Terry just floats around next to Barrea the entire play and completely ignores Chalmers the entire time, Chandler waits in the driving lane the entire time, while Dirk is guarding nobody on the other side of the lane:

Here's the other one:

m3qZKqL.jpg

Who the fukk is Dirk guarding? It's just a double on LeBron but he doesn't even have to get up on Bron, he can just defend space. Meanwhile Haywood AND Kidd are in the lane backing him even though there's only one Heat player there. In MJ's era this would be clear illegal defense on Dirk AND Kidd.

On the other hand....

rIqTa6F.jpg

THAT is whistled as illegal defense in MJ's era. Bulls clear out the entire side so MJ can isolate against 5'3" Bogues, and what can Charlotte do? They all have to stand outside the key on the opposite end of the court. Alonzo Mourning failed to get out of the lane and they called illegal defense on him even though he's 15 feet away from MJ.

They gonna ignore this shyt like they ignored the previous clip.

Notice he ignored EVERY clip I posted just like I said he would. :russ:

You're showing plays where multiple Bulls players were clustered around MJ or just standing close to the basket, allowing their defenders to be close. Why are you ignoring that MJ could also ask for clearouts and get those players out of the way, or spread the floor in the Triangle offense with shooters (often BJ/Paxson and Pippen or Kerr-Kukoc-Pippen on the floor simultaneously with Longley ready for the 15' pop) and get one-on-one unless they threw the hard double or collapsed late and usually out-of-position?

In MJ's era defenders had to guard players. In this era they can defend space if they want to. Is that true or not?

You fukking liar, I posted the entire clips and Terry (first clip) / Dirk (second clip) were waiting behind Bron guarding nobody the entire play. :mjlol:

In your gif MJ is one-on-one and the other defenders only collapse towards the lane in the last second. They all had to be attached to players which is why nobody is anywhere near either elbow, MJ had FAR more room to work with than LeBron did.

Are you really so ignorant that you can't tell the difference between Jazz players out of position collapsing last second and Warriors/Mavs defenders literally sitting there waiting in the lanes?

I bet you legit don't even know the difference between the clips you posted and the clips I posted. Were Bron's help defenders allowed to wait in space that MJ's help defenders weren't allowed to wait, or not?

I take it you missed that thread from about a year ago on here where a bunch of heads that regularly post about the NBA were admitting to not actually watching games
