People here always drive to south haven Mississippi for cheaper taxes and because they have a lot of shopping areas. It's right on the border so it's just like going up the expressway but I don't fukk with it.
every now and then I go there for a concert and I feel like the klan is about to jump out the bushes. That and Arkansas are pretty terrible.

It doesn't get a lot of press, and that's perfectly fine. I'm sure they wanna keep it that way.
Other places here have either been in the margins for a long time (Indianola, Belzoni, Sundown Towns, The Hurricane Coast, etc), thrust into the spotlight because of a positive/negative influx of interest (Tunica and Casinos, Jackson having a drug dealer mayor from Texas followed by the Tupac Shakur family lawyer as mayor... who both "died under mysterious circumstances", the Jackson area's skyrocketing crime rate, hurricanes, the brown water in Greenvile no one talks about because it's famous for aspiring authors, "lynchings",The Help", etc) or no one gives a shyt about.
Yes, it's ULTRA segregated. But that's only because the segregation rules pretty much started here. There's places you'll never see a white person unless it's at a bank or doctor's office/drug store.... but black people can come out of their houses and look across the street and see communities of white people but they know they could never set foot there.
I know plenty of black folks that call the white people they work for "Da Boss Mayne". and the white owners of poor towns have been blocking walmarts since 1978 because they'd rather a general store make 10k a year than progress be made.
Other places may have more crime of more fukkery, but if you're black or poor? Mississippi is the WOAT of WOATS.
