I have a different kind of relationship with my parents. My dad got shot when I was like 10-11 but my mom never allowed him to be in my life due to shyt that happened when I was younger. So instead of me being mad that my dad was never around (my step dad was) I was mad that my mom pretty much destroyed our family structure (she was responsible for her and my step dads later divorce).

Is it common for men to have issues with their mother?

You should confront her. In a respectful way of course

Idk it’s almost scary how she pretends that she’s never done anything wrong...and whenever I’ve confronted her in the past it always gets to a point in the conversation where she can’t handle it so she’ll just walk away. I’m not so sure that I’m ready to handle that.

Was your dad in the streets?
If so, why didn't you blame him for not changing his life so he could be in yours?

Yep, he was. He reformed. He and his twin brother both went to college. Got shot in the head defending his brother. Quite a few of my uncles were involved in the street life, and are in jail/dead because of it.

While my dad shares blame for not living right, she’s still played her part in having his child.

Respect for being logical unlike most of these bytch ass male feminists who like to absolve their mothers/women in general from their role in shyt like this

In some cases, they displace the feelings of resentment they have towards the fathers who left them onto the mother who actually stuck around for their children.

As humans we have a tendency to do this. Give our ass to kiss to those who are in our corner the most and work for the affections of those who treat us like shyt.

Still trying to get this human behavior. Sometimes the people who support us the most get the most abuse. I don't ever want to take for granted anybody doing shyt for my well-being.
