Yes, there is. We all might be unique and smart in our own way, but everyone instinctively understands that the guy who spends 30 years in a lab trying to figure out a way to get at cancer cells is smarter than the guy who can paint a graffiti masterpiece.

Nope and the guys in the lab are the ones who said it

No matter how much schooling you do someone will always know something more than you on a particular subject. There are a lot of ways to be considered smart. Doing well in school is not just it. Society has had some of the smartest people in college do some of the dumbest crimes.

The guys in the lab didn't say anything. It has been known and accepted since time immemorial.

In ancient times everyone knew that "learned men" were superior to the "hoi polloi". The men that looked at the stars and tried to figure out what's going on were smarter than those who didn't. The men who opened up corpses and tried to figure out how the body works were smarter than those that didn't. The men that could plot a military campaign, give a discourse, design a bridge or keep track of a household's accounts were smarter than the the men who could fit a horseshoe or cure leather or swing a sword.

It's only recently that we feel the need to rationalize obvious truths about our existence.

Plato or Bill Gates or Tesla

Interesting 3 people you chose. And yes, I think I'm more intelligent than all 3 but the lack of resources

Most importantly, I'm definitely more intelligent than you

But how do you know?

Since, you know... "intelligence can't be measured on a scale".:troll:

Well basically, what is the scale of "smartness"? What do you need to know to be "smart"? Like lets say if someone knew a lot about photosynthesis but I knew a lot about pancakes who would be smarter? Would it be the other guy because knowing a lot about pancakes is "silly".

What is being smart to you?

pancakes are awesome:salute:

For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge,

Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.

I think you're confusing being knowledgeable with being intelligent. There's a difference, ya know?
