Is there anyone over 30 making less than 50k annually on here?

When I graduated college, my first job paid me $48K back in 2004. Then shortly after I started the federal OT laws changed and I was making like $70 - $75K a year for the next 3 years. Since then, I'd made up my mind that I'd always gave to make 3x my age at the minimum.

Whoever said they rather make 50K in your own business rather than $100K in corporate America aint making sense to me. Unless it's a start-up and that's what you choose to pay yourself, as you scale up and eventually try to cash in. But if it's a small biz? Nah, I don't get it

Fair enough. When you own your own business though, the significance will become more apparent to you if you decide to start yours. CorpAmer has its benefits as well.

if so do you feel like a loser?
How do you go on vacations and buy things you like while saving money?
Do making around you peers make you feel invaluable?

I don't know if it matters but I think what really matters is how much of the money you make are you able to keep...If you made 50+ and are able to live well within your means you may actually be better off than someone making 80+ who doesn't...Its not what you bring in funds wise but what you do with it long term.

What's the cost of living like in Houston:wtf:
Dat nikka either lying or it was years ago when he did that. Houston not that expensive but in 2016 you can't pay rent and two car Notes and support a wife on no 45k without struggling. I live in Austin which has the highest cost of living. There was once a time where you could hold down an apartment and car note off of just 10/hr that was when I was fresh out of high school. I had my own crib and 2 cars by the time I was 19 and made just 11/hr. These kids today can't leave home at 18 or 19. shyt all fukked up

Life isn't about how much you make. It's about who you are as a person. If you live life within your means, then you don't have to worry about being deep in debt and going on fancy vacations, driving expensive cars, and living in an expensive home isn't important.

nice stuff isn't a necessity but vacations (travel) are essential to growth as a person.

I'd say by importance:
1) house size (if you have a lot of kids and need the space, can't raise a big family in a one bedroom condo). also it's technically equity because you own an asset but renting might be better sometimes.
2) vacations
3) nice car (if you have no choice but to spend 1.5-2 hours a day commuting, it makes sense to upgrade to something decent from a total shyt box.)
4) other nice material possessions (clothes, etc.)

I get it. You control your schedule and you're building something that's yours. That's more important than money. Tax breaks/write offs that allow them to keep more of their $50K than the corporate guy keeps of his $100K. But I digress.

Graduated in 2004 (assuming graduated in 4 years at 22). Year 2016. Assuming 34 years of age. So, you making $102K minimum? :leon:

Peace

the whole point of making more money is so you can be financially independent sooner.

i'd rather make 50k self-employed with no boss and pick my hours, rent a decent condo, no car, and have enough for one decent vacation a year than make 100k reporting to an a$$hole boss but live paycheque to paycheque with a big house and fancy car.
Nah
