If they wanted to rule it no TD since he so called lost possession(even though he broke the plane) then they should rule the catch at the one since he made a football play for a TD.... it’s the reason why the whole breaking the plane was instituted... to make it easier to score.... hence a so called more entertaining games... I’m sure there are examples of players diving for the goal line and losing control of the ball.... but since the plane was broken, it was called a TD

You're not getting it. When you're making a catch and falling like the receiver was you have to complete control of the ball throughout the entire process even if its in the end zone and the ball came lose therefore no catch

Homie just posted the rule and nowhere does it say "entire process". It say "initial contact with ground". The receiver's initial contact with the ground was his knee and he maintained enough control to extend the ball after that initial contact.

No his initial contact was when he hit the ground and he did not mantain control. It's not hard to see based on the rule that it's not a catch. This shyt has happened numerous times now and it's always not a catch because it's the rule

The rule book doesn't speak on what they mean by initial contact with ground, so it's up to interpretation. I'll leave it at that.

But when the ball was bobbled it didn’t hit the ground and it didn’t come out of his hands.

He didn’t bobble it then it rolled right out of the endzone.

What’s theoretically being argued on the other side then is that if you bobble then there’s no way there can be a catch because it’s not perfectly stuck to the hands from the very second it touches the receiver.

When I saw it, I immediately said Calvin Johnson rule and complete the process. It's a dumb rule but the right call.

When Calvin Johnson bobbled it he lost the ball completely and it rolled out of the endzone.

James bobbled it but still has possession and it never touches the ground after the bobble.

How is that the same?
