Is this “we are not a monolith” talk code for “I am one of the good ones”?

My problem is that it tends to be some shyt like

"I think Trayvon deserved it.. we're not a monolith!". nikkas

It's an all-lives-matter type of statement but nikkas try to co-opt with mundane shyt like "I like Anime, we are not a monolith!".. That's not what that's for.

@ PA
I see what OP is gettin at...but I can also understand the separation depending on the conversation or context.

For example...I'm in the hood...
but I'm not a hoodrat...:manny:

My mindset has surpassed some of the fukshyt I still see certain individuals tryin to be on...I've somewhat elevated myself mentally...so in a sense I have separated myself from certain ppl...:obama:

Doesn't mean I still don't frequent certain spots or still enjoy a certain environment when I'm out...:demonic:

The difference is.. I'm not spendin my days thinkin about how I can come up off nggas or game the system like a lot of our ppl do....:mjpls:

Cats not making a legitimate attempt to get ahead or do somethin wit themselves...promotin negativity 24/7 is hoodrat shyt... Im off that. Can't be associated on the reg...:hubie:

It’s a term that conservatives and suburbanites use.
We don’t “all” listen to that “Black music.”
We don’t “all” vote Democrat or Left.
We don’t “all” have kids out of wedlock.’

See the pattern
nikkas in this thread are trying to “we are not a monolith” “we are not a monolith” and pretend they use it for other reasons.
That Key & Peele skit hits it right on the head.

There’s a reason people become friends in the first place. And it’s not usually becuz they have things in common
:yeshrug:

Right it is very different for a person to become friends with people that share wildly different interests. Said person will be labeled the different ass nikka in the group and grow to own it. That's typically how it works with the I'm different types. :yeshrug:

We couldn’t even get past the third post before someone brought up deadbeats and hoodrats like that had anything to do with the thread. Just goes to show you how some of us think
:mjcry:
We aren’t a monolith becuz some of us aren’t hoodrats and deadbeats
:wow:
But even that is overstated and merely a cop out. More realistically its a byproduct of not being to control our narrative of how we're depicted. Media outlet across this country are only 4.5% black(we're 13% of the population). On top of that many of these brothers and sisters probably aren't in a substantial position of power to influence change. Most black people in the professional workplace unless they're the CEO or the management is black, have toe the line, bit their tongue and come off as nonthreatening to mainstream American establishment.

The raw truth is everyone has dysfunctional families. Quantifying a hoodrat is subjective as well man. Deadbeats exist in every race and social economic setting. Deadbeats are more a result of human behavior and individuals being selfish rather than any pseduo racial trope.

To reach even further the 45th president has a zillion skeletons hidden in his closet. There's a reason why dude has had 3 wives. This just speaks to the volume of dysfunction his family exhibits on a grand scale.

End game for black people should be to break from the shackles of inferiority by educating themselves, then enlightening others about the bs, while continuing to push for a higher quality of life.

I see it different. Usually the I’m different types didn’t grow up with predominantly black folks and developed interests that they were told most black folks aren’t into

c00ns “we are not a monolith, if some of us want to support him then let us”
nikka please you ain't getting out the read anytime soon so stop the dikkeating for reps. You can find less than 1% of this board on that shyt trying to make that seem like the norm FOH.

It seems like that sometimes. Every time I see someone say that on here its due to them being into some shyt that most black folks ain’t into. Nothing wrong with having certain hobbies or interests. But to me it seems like when they say that they are trying to separate themselves from the rest of us. As if they are above the “typical” black folk shyt

I can’t be the only one :mjpls:

I see it :mjpls:

And i have an idea of which posters you're referring to :sas2:
