Is this “we are not a monolith” talk code for “I am one of the good ones”?

I rarely see c00ns say that black people aren’t a monolith.

Like everything it depends on the person more so than the phrase itself

Most c00ns agree with generalizations and say they are one of the good ones and don’t include the group in their way of speaking when talking positively about themself.

It seems like that sometimes. Every time I see someone say that on here its due to them being into some shyt that most black folks ain’t into. Nothing wrong with having certain hobbies or interests. But to me it seems like when they say that they are trying to separate themselves from the rest of us. As if they are above the “typical” black folk shyt

I can’t be the only one :mjpls:
You noticed that too :mjpls:

I agree. Most of the time it’s not used with good intentions. Almost like an insult

But these poor black people are more likely to be victimized by white supremacy and when they are, will you appropriate their pain to feel like a victim from your cushy lifestyle or are you going to be happy that some black trash is gone? I feel like a lot of you like to pick and choose what parts of the black experience you want like you want to be apart of black excellence and you want the pain even if neither applies to you. I have no problem with you separating yourself if you were never with us to begin but don't appropriate their pain and struggles to feel like a victim if you do.
Post of the year and describes 90% of the posters here who blame white supremacy for being broke and pwoosyless.

Fair points :ehh:

I legitimely see why you feel that way. I just think like @Temby said, we have to cast aside these emotions of trying to build everyone and be equal, even within our own race. Acknowledge that we have people who won't succeed unless durastic change is made which I just don't see happening anytime soon. What I see instead are people who have opportunity in our community doing WHATEVER IT TAKES to succeed and create a better image for the rest of us. Alot would be considered a$$holes and hustlers but every race has this seperation in classes for a reason. No you don't need to save everyone from the hood, get it for you and your family, support black business, and hope things change. All this feeling and emotional thinking is weak in my honest opinion

You're 100% percent right back in my "I'm different than these other blacks" :mjpls:

Days when I was in like middle school "we're not a monolith" became one of my favorite sayings as it made me separate myself from other black people as if just because i liked anime and rock music I was better. Now I don't use the term because I know how most nikkas use it.

And you’ll see people repeat these same talking points on here and use it as proof of how they’re “different”
Yeah the I'm different trope is always a red flag of an insecurity trope.

The goat has even mentioned this In one of his songs. @Illeye buckmatic

:yeshrug: we not monolith- I am no c00n, I never lived around white people, had a white friend, or even have any white family members.

I am just a regular black breh- who has been around enough folks to realize that not everyone is on the same page as me and if they aren't fukk them I don't care if they are black or not.

Some of these people are not "c00ns" as well, some black police officers, managers, coworkers, cashiers, drug dealers, robbers, bus drivers, security clerks etc have black families, live around black people, love being black but don't give two shyts about whether you black or not- if they don't like you then....... they don't like you.

People not walking around with this "my black brother" mantra.

No.

Not everyone had the same thoughts, feelings, etc. We dont operate with a hive mind. So i dont take it as :mjpls:. But then again, it depends on the context.

Some nikkas will go over and beyond to let you know that they're "different" tho.

shyt makes my head hurt.
