Is this “we are not a monolith” talk code for “I am one of the good ones”?

We all have different thoughts and opinions. But when someone goes out their way to tell you that it’s condescending
I rarely see that. I think its just you and others seeing what you want to fit your narrative. Maybe you can say the same of me. I mainly see the term and use of it personally when folks trying to lump all blacks in with some stuff they'd be upset if someone else said it. I do see folks using it at times in regards to doing stereotypical white stuff but I don't automatically assume its condescending. That sounds more like you than them honestly. Even most times when them types saying it it is because they've been made fun of for having different views on some so you listen to/have "white" hobbies MJ smilie and you don't pay attention to that part just their response. That's telling to me. If someone unsolicited said it I'd agree with you but the majority of the time on here it's in defense of something someone else said about them not just coming right out and saying it.

It seems like that sometimes. Every time I see someone say that on here its due to them being into some shyt that most black folks ain’t into. Nothing wrong with having certain hobbies or interests. But to me it seems like when they say that they are trying to separate themselves from the rest of us. As if they are above the “typical” black folk shyt

I can’t be the only one :mjpls:
Bruh, I’ve been saying that about this talk of “diversity” too. Like you’ll get nikkas saying “ugh! That’s not all black people can do! We need to be seen doing other things!/diversity”

Nothing wrong with that, but that shyt low key code for “I want white people to look at me different”. Like I saw some nikka mad that Tyler Perry keep making the same movies and how he needs to hire other directors and writers to make more “diverse” movies like anime :mjpls:

I hate that saying and the people who use it 9 times out of 10:martin:
Lets cut the bullshyt, the people who need to say this usually have adopted a European identity almost entirely.
They are essentially a European in black face, from they way they talk, dress, ideology, interest, etc.
I have some "nerd" interest,I like some white movies that other people may not find the humor funny. But only a certain type of black person feels the need to explain "We are not a monolith" and thats a black person who has almost entirely been assmiliated into european ways.
They are insecure with their own connection to their blackness, and use this an excuse to never have to do anything about it. And to think, those are the ones who are actually decent and redeemable, yet clueless and indoctrinated:martin:.

Don't get me started on the black elitist who just don't want to be affiliated with poor blacks,or less educated black people. As they don't want to be held to the negative stereotypes that racist cacs have about blacks. They don't want "those blacks" making them look bad. So you are that concerned of what racist cacs think about you huh?Tell tell signs of a c00n. You created a whole phrase in order to Juelz your way into the hearts of white racist:martin:

What is this dap fishing stupidity? If someone doesn't want to be associated with negative images they are c00ns? That word on this site has jumped the fukking shark. Didn't know you like to be compared to the worst of your group. Good to know. Lastly dap fisher how can someone be trying for white acceptance when most times they are saying this to other blacks in a discussion?

You might be reading into it too much OP.

They can be trying to expand a narrow black stereotype, rather than elevating themselves above it. Either way, the phrase is usually used to combat a stereotype coming from someone they perceive as narrow-minded.

Only time I really heard that phrase is during political talk, anyway. The most when black people explained why they didn't vote Obama.

I already covered both of those scenarios. When they are saying it to other blacks its because they are insecure in their blackness, probably rightfully so. But instead of realizing they have been assimilated by europeanism ways and ideologys, and fixing that. They use this phrase to guilt other blacks into just accepting their european assimilation, which I refuse to do personally.

And thats a ridiculous question,if they are saying it to white people how could they not be looking for white acceptance?why are you explaining to a european that all black people aren't all alike? as if that shouldn't be obvious to any adult american who has seen plenty of black americans in their lifetime. And yes,if you don't want to be associated with negative stereotypes you could certainly be a c00n,because usually those "negative stereotypes" aren't negative unless viewed from the lense of white supremacist, and white supremacist ideology that blacks have been brainwashed with.

White acceptance is not on everyone’s mind if they have a different point of view. Especially when you lived in proximity and went to the same schools. Coded language comes out real quick.

Do I think I’m better than other black people from certain backgrounds NO but I forsure know I can navigate life better without baggage.

I personally don’t EVER want to be associated with gangs, hood rats, people who are complicit in their own downfall, c00ns who shame themselves. I don’t care how it makes me sound.

Also let not act like certain black kids is 6 to 12th grade wasn’t talking shyt, LOUD, harassing, going out of their way to make certain different kids the butt of the jokes. It could breed resentment and push them to only hangout with others who racist ways are passive aggressive aka “your your different from them”. Most people are really oblivious to subtle racism.

No. It means not every black person in the world has lived in poverty and has a traumatic past. And we have so many ethnic groups with different beliefs and values. Due to that we have different opinions on the same subject and shouldnt be shamed for it.
