Yeah, growing up in CA, most black people I knew had roots in LA, TX, and AR. My family was unusual being from NC and SC (by way of NY and NJ).

Absolutely! And as a got older they stories got more interesting from The Green Book to being terrorized by the klan. It gave a more in depth view of living post slavery. Best believe not a blacks back then were afraid.
Old folks at our family reunions STILL talk about my uncles being “maneuvered” out of Mississippi bc one of them killed a cac for assaulting one of my great aunts.
