The Great Migration is a fascinated thing. Most of the people from Louisiana often relocated to California and Illinois. Those from Alabama and Mississippi relocated to Illinois and Detroit. Most from North and South Carolina relocated to DC, NY, CT or PA. I said most but some just went where they wanted. A few months ago there was a twitter thread that completely broke it all down but I can't find it.
Its extremely fascinating. What's also interesting is the migration of AA's further South into Florida. Seeing that many black folks in SoFla have ancestry in GA, Bama and SC.

Old folks at our family reunions STILL talk about my uncles being “maneuvered” out of Mississippi bc one of them killed a cac for assaulting one of my great aunts.
My family is from Lula/Tunica area. There was a sheriff there that used to terrorize folks there, and my grandfather got fed up and planned on smoking him.
The plan was that he and my uncle were going to lie wait in a ditch along his route as he was making his rounds and ambush him when he got close. He must have got tied up in some other shyt because he didn't drive through when he normally did. My uncle and grandfather camped there and waited for him, but he never showed up, and they wound up leaving because it got too cold.
