Sheryl had me cracking up speaking this REAL CHIT about going to ya people's house...

This is TRUTH. 25+ cars following each other from Michigan to Alabama.

Family mad we gotta keep stopping cause someone body aint pee during the last stop -- or one of your uncles or aunts or their kids still hungry and we gotta stop.

Cousins wanna ride in another car - or gotta ride in another car cause they acting up or mad at each other.

Some of the younger cousins wanna stop in Atlanta overnight instead of riding all the way to bama. Older people pissed and wanna check everyone.

Once you get to Tennessee, Ga or Bama -- some body wanna stop on the side of the expressway and eat red dirt.

Just shyt all the way there.

My maternal grandparents aren't originally from WV, but my great grandaddy was from North Carolina and my great grandmother was from Tennessee. My maternal grandparents were born and raised in WV. My paternal great grandparents are from the Carolinas that I know of and my paternal grandparents were born and raised in WV.

I didn't know that. Ironically, my father is from Tally. LOL
Yeah. All of this is an Interesting layer of the great migration that isnt discussed often. The migration of AA's from one Southern state to another.. Most of Florida prior to the civil war was uninhabited by many non Europeans. Not many plantations. So alot of slaves escaped to Florida. And post Civil War, Most of SoFla was developed by Northerners. Jim Crow laws were actually "brought in" by state legislators in the Panhandle. Alot of Black folks from rural parts of GA, SC, etc found work in SoFla alongside Black Bahamians. That's why the two groups are very closely related. Decades of intermarriage.

Alot of Louisiana blacks would migrate to Texas as well. East Texas, Houston, Galveston have an abundance of Louisiana Creole AA's. Under the surface at least. Beyonce's the most famous one..

And then there's the post Katrina folks also. And even pre katrina black folks who migrated to texas for work.

My family is from Lula/Tunica area. There was a sheriff there that used to terrorize folks there, and my grandfather got fed up and planned on smoking him.
The plan was that he and my uncle were going to lie wait in a ditch along his route as he was making his rounds and ambush him when he got close. He must have got tied up in some other shyt because he didn't drive through when he normally did. My uncle and grandfather camped there and waited for him, but he never showed up, and they wound up leaving because it got too cold.
Wow. That's hella brave. They had no other options than to be brave.

:wow:
