What it has to do with both teams is that it forced the Knicks to take on Kiki Vandeweogh, Rolando Blackman, Doc Ricers and other past their prime has beens to fill their rosters and depend on to provide dependable play. Tons of dude who should have no longer been in the league were employed.
I liked Derek Harper as a Knick. I even interviewed him. But I also know that he SCARED me as a Mav facing my 80s Lakers and the Knick version I saw was lower tier player. Same with old ass X-Man who I saw catch a tech at the Garden when he flipped out on Johnny Newman who dunked on him and threw the ball at X with X paying him back later in the game dunking on him....in the 80s. He too ended up being a has been Knick contributor. These were shytty teams who mastered the art of struggle ball.
It's as if you just didn't like watching that Knicks team or how they were put together from a fan's point of view. You're not really making a point here tho. You're acting like Richard Jefferson isn't on the current NBA champs squad. You're acting like Tristan Thompson isn't their current starting center. Like Channing Frye isn't depended upon. Like JR Smith isn't their starting 2. Like they aren't playing Deandre Liggins right now. Like James Jones isn't on the roster. Those are all players who are either past their primes or just not that good to begin with. They're the current defending champs though.
NBA players saw the zone as harder to score on, but here you are calling it easier
What's the source for this claim? When did you poll NBA players on their opinion of how hard it is to score on the zone? Zeke is pretty clear In this clip.
The zone is a gimmick/junk defense. There's a reason that most teams only use it in spurts if at all. Yea it can be hard to score if you haven't seen it in awhile and aren't used to attacking it. That's the point of it though, it's a change of pace.
The zone is used to hide deficiencies. If you can't guard a team straight up man to man, you go zone. Other than Boeheim who uses the zone as a base D? Personally, I think that the zone was allowed to globalize the game and make it more non black friendly. The zone is definitely not a more effective defense then straight up man to man.
