Yeah I don't know if this is due to the pandemic and social media or what but the conspiratorialism in the black community has reached new heights smh. shyt is dangerous.
People don't know how to properly vet sources, don't know history, don't know basic science, don't know the scientific method, have massive amounts of (unwarranted) mistrust in certain institutions but will trust a video shared on Facebook from some "doctor" telling you what "they" don't want you to know. At this point I don't even try to argue with people.
And probability and statistics needs to be a requirement in high school
A lot of things that should be taught are purposely excluded from most curriculums. We have history majors who only recently learned about Tulsa from a HBO show. This forum often provides evidence most people have not taken a civics class and know nothing about how our political system works.
Sevearal scholars are looking into this; Howard just got a huge misinformation grant. The real issue is how can we reverse it? With the widespread and unregulated use of social media as a news source, it feels like Pandora's box has been unleashed

Wrong again, because science is not white. Science is just science. And types like you for far too long have made this false equivalency, this is why Black people are in the state we are in. If someone "zaddy" is lying and mislaying in science that can be refuted and debunked with science.
As I said before, science can be put to test and always needs to be verified. This usually happens by a council of scholars/ scientists This happens over and over, this is why theories can be and are being debunked. This is the reason why science has made strives, and why you are now able to type on this platform. You probably have no idea how much organization and science went in to this. And this is why we as Black men are behind.

What you are claiming is that a some random negroe with an opinion should be listened to, and be taken seriously, without having that person's claims being tested by an official council of scholars/ scientists. No questions asked whatsoever? That right there is problematic and also dangerous, dangerous for the public. We don't need no high school dropouts acting as scholars and academics. We need people who have passed the test, who can show and prove they have certain skillsets and had good grades! We did these things long before encountered any Europeans doing this.

When nikkas feel lied to they be ready to accept whatever explanation goes contrary to the textbook, regardless of how well it holds up to scrutiny. When the explanation is scrutinized with receipts and/or common sense they turn to "you can't disprove it" and the "perspective" argument as if nothing could ever be objective

Too many of us dont even know the process of coming up with a scientific conclusion. Basic azz shyt like how colors work, wave frequencies, molecular bonds, atomic structure, significant figures etc. should be made common knowledge. It would genuinely give ppl a newfound respect for science and how literally EVERYTHING around you works... The amount of knowledge, effort, precision, research that goes into developing a fxcking bottle of lotion would make ppls heads spin.
I wasnt even a science major. I finished early and then just took chemistry 101/ calc for the fxck of it just to see what it was like. It legit changed my whole perspective on life. To see everyday shyt that you never thought about explained AND demonstrated, AND testing it for yourself in a lab... seeing it broken down to the last damn electron. EXACTLY how they calculated it and explained it in the book.. its crazy. So much shyt makes sense. Off that one basic intro class To this day I can read inactive ingredients list on a bottle of hand sanitizer and actually have an idea of WTF each thing is and why its called that. shyts not even complicated once you got the basics down. EVERYONE should do it if they could
We can't let basic science themes intimidate us to the point where we just dismiss the shyt as "made up lies" the second someone "real" gives them a neatly packaged wacko theory. We cant roll our eyes at the Periodic Table and call it useless knowledge, only to years later dikkride some internet charlatan who sounds smart and spits what you want to hear.

High school is already free. It was the college of its day. Why not apply that same logic to HS?
