I don't get it either but here are some of the other costs, food, fuel (transporting kids), activities, birthday parties & (gifts for friends), vacations, insurance, medical care, clothing, sports ,clubs ,private school, entertainment, furniture etc etc.
some costs like health insurance for family aren't fully born by us but employers
