It may have been a gimmick to Cube , but Black militancy didn't sell records like that

Cube was going to sell regardless.
I don't know bro, he seemed passionate about it...I think he just grew out of it. He's done traveled the world and met ppl from different backgrounds. Its hard to have the same attitude. That happened to Malcolm

Talent usually gets you a pass. Plus, I don't think Cube is really that popular with white folks, his stuff is targeted at the black consumer and not crossing over to the dixie chicks fans u dig

Cube still a real nikka to me till this day. I see a ton of his current interviews, he just a regular nikka with strong opinions still.

But even when Cube was going at CAC's and on his extra Black shyt, the nikka never claim to hate all White people like yall making it sound.
"There's a difference between black ppl & niqqers" - u buying this?

He got wealthier when he crossed over, so you could argue he was paid off to leave rap and water his message down.
Hes actually the biggest ever cross over artist.

Don't think that I hate you,cuz I wont date you.
bytch I gotta stay true.
You can be a fan,but don't expand, and try to get my dikk in ya hand"

Cube cant help it nikkas thought he wanted to see all white people dead, maybe as a kid that was hard to understand but yall grown now:comeon:...smh at this being a gimmick,as if gangsta rap aint what made NWA blow the fukk up....as if he wouldn't have sold records rapping the most gangsta most ignant shyt ever if he decided too:laff:

Cube was a young nikka who wanted some knowledge of self,he got it and gave us some great albums....Stop acting like this nikka is the first nikka yall ever knew to get heavy on that militant/religious tip for a minute then decide it aint for them....Cube is still a muslim by the way,he just don't have the NOI in his pockets or using him as a puppet no more:manny:

I don't think its crazy when you think about it,its not like he has a new fanbase of 60 year old white people:heh:....Most of his fanbase would be people of the hiphop generation, and people who don't know him musically but know him from the Fridays....Cube didn't cross over matter of fact,if anything its crazy Cube was so goat as a musician, and put out movies so goat that he made cacs cross over to him:wow:

Truest post in the thread...

Cube, NWA, and PE were all acts who were able to sell big without the support of MTV or even "black radio" for that matter. And to me, Cube was like the middle ground between PE and NWA, given his association with both camps. He was like the bridge between those two sounds in those early parts of his solo career.

And Cube wasn't really the "kill whitey" dude anyway... he, much like PE, was often misquoted and misunderstood in his message. He was really more so against the fukked up things perpetuated by racism and the people who perpetuated it. Take "Black Korea" for example- it wasn't about hating Asians, it was about Asians who open stores in Black neighborhoods and want our money, but at the same time wanna treat us like shyt. But of course to people who ain't smart enough to realize that, it turned into "Ice Cube is anti-Asian". Or when he called Heller a jew, it turned into "Ice Cube is Anti-Semitic"... when really it was a line about 4 black men allowing a jew to play them against eachother. Hell, he called out Black people on our bullshyt too with "Us". Cube (and PE) rapped against everything detrimental to Black people- even if it was internal. But the only people who ever caught feelings about it were hurt-ass white people offended cause what he said described them. And meanwhile, their kids loved the shyt.

Black militancy did draw in white crowds in the earlier days of rap but Afrocentric rap didn't.
PE was it when it came to white folks and selling a gang of records(Platinum plus). BDP to a lesser degree. I can't really think of any other Black militant groups with a huge white follwoing that sold a gang of records. Paris and The Coup didn't though they had a nice size fan base.

Early Pac sold cool but it wasn't until "I Get Around" where he started really selling
