PE was it when it came to white folks and selling a gang of records(Platinum plus). BDP to a lesser degree. I can't really think of any other Black militant groups that sold a gang of records. Paris and The Coup didn't though they had a nice size fan base.

Early Pac sold cool but it wasn't until "I Get Around" where he started really selling

True about PE but I remember reading years ago that most of Dead Prez support/fan base was white. White people I think would listen to and support a group like Dead Prez before something like X-Clan.

I don't know bro, he seemed passionate about it...I think he just grew out of it. He's don't traveled the world and met ppl from different backgrounds. Its hard to have the same attitude. That happened to Malcolm

:stopitslime:

Malcolm reoriented his politics but he never compromised on his demands for Black freedom in any way, shape, or form. He didn't pal around with the establishment.

I'm not gonna knock Cube but you can't blame people for identifying a shift in his attitude and behavior and wondering about that

Yeah Dead Prez has a huge white following or they used to have one(not sure anymore). But they came out in the late 90s. I guess white folks will gravitate to one militant group per era.

I guess the comparison to Malcolm rubbed me the wrong way. :manny: Malcolm was always about it. But Cube? Going from the types of tracks he made to (cac) family-friendly films? :francis: Like I said, I'm not hating, let the nikka cook and whatnot, but is he really about it anymore? I don't think it has much to do with traveling. If anything, traveling shows you how fukked this shyt is.

Of course hes on x as far as being real...I'm just saying his travels soften him up, plus he was young and passionate after learning from the Nation...

It's basically how we put our highschool actions and mentality to rest once we enter college. Guys like Ice Cube, Snoop, 50, and Dre all put their former mentality and lifestyle in the backseat because they know they no longer needed thanks to the opportunity and situations they are currently in.

Nothing wrong with evolving and crossing over. Cube is enjoying his life as a certified legend.

Don't think that I hate you,cuz I wont date you.
bytch I gotta stay true.
You can be a fan,but don't expand, and try to get my dikk in ya hand"

Cube cant help it nikkas thought he wanted to see all white people dead, maybe as a kid that was hard to understand but yall grown now:comeon:...smh at this being a gimmick,as if gangsta rap aint what made NWA blow the fukk up....as if he wouldn't have sold records rapping the most gangsta most ignant shyt ever if he decided too:laff:

Cube was a young nikka who wanted some knowledge of self,he got it and gave us some great albums....Stop acting like this nikka is the first nikka yall ever knew to get heavy on that militant/religious tip for a minute then decide it aint for them....Cube is still a muslim by the way,he just don't have the NOI in his pockets or using him as a puppet no more:manny:

I don't think its crazy when you think about it,its not like he has a new fanbase of 60 year old white people:heh:....Most of his fanbase would be people of the hiphop generation, and people who don't know him musically but know him from the Fridays....Cube didn't cross over matter of fact,if anything its crazy Cube was so goat as a musician, and put out movies so goat that he made cacs cross over to him:wow:

Well said, repped

Just to be clear...cuz some of y'all are going that way with your posts...me saying he crossed over is not saying he sold out or stopped having the same beliefs, altho I'm sure they have changed some. I'm just surprised his past rhetoric doesn't get thrown out against him, especially in :mjpls: Hollywood. I mean, dude was given a coors endorsement, that's grade A working class white people beer lol

It was timing...he always had white fans. When he ventured into movies, he had a built-in fan base. I think Friday showed people and his-self, he had a comedic side and quasi-softened his image and made him marketable.

I remember USA used to play that movie weekly, religiously like the 700 club. He got more into writing and producing movies and saw the money that could be made. By the time Barbershop came out, his transition was complete.
