I never got the notion there was a max waiting for IT in Boston... or really anywhere. Way too many warts in his game. If you lock him into a max you sort of put a cap on the potential of your team. That's not to say he isn't a useful part; he is.

Had it not been for the injury, he would've gotten a hell of a lot more than a 1 year deal for the minimum.

Well yes, there's quite a range between vet min and a max deal. I don't think he was ever going to get one from any team, regardless of injury. What team out there is saying to themselves: "You know, I'm an IT away from being a real contender for a championship". He can be really useful as instant offense off the bench but I'm not paying a premium for that.

I think he wouldve gotten very close to max, although it wouldnt have been from Boston. the way things worked out Ainge was able to get something for him and never intended on giving him max anyway.
