Nah, the artists still sold well after BIG passed. Neither label was paying their artists. But Bad Boy was still at least alive.
I hated 112, but they were still dropping platinum albums years after BIG died. Black Rob did over a million sold too. Shyne was selling a good 500,000, G Def had some big singles for them. Faith dropped another gold album later on years after BIG passed.
So they weren't getting their proper bread, but the label itself was still wildly successful. Even the LOX did a million and Ma$e did some crazy sh*t like 4,000,000. So well after Death Row was on life support, Bad Boy was still making mad hits.
Dre said he was broke when he left Death Row. Suge came to his house with some dudes asking for all the masters. Daz had to sue Suge to get paid for all the work he did, and that took him forever to get. Kurupt said he was broke and had to move back in with family. He said he couldn't even pay his child support. Pac didn't have any bread either. And Snoop left by '97. So none of the Death Row artists were paid either, but the label was dead too. That's the difference. Bad Boy had issues with paying people, but the actual label was still heavy on dropping hit music.
