It's 2024, why the fukk does Raekwon's Rainy DayZ sound even better in 2024?

I said in a another thread that OB4CL was a East Coast Trap album...

Rappers now need to study this album because every track felt like a movie.

What happened to Blue Raspberry btw???

Tekitha too

Blue Raspberry was on the song and music video for Apathy's The Winter

I don't like Blue Raspberry's singing on the record plus that screeching sound RZA uses on the record really bothers me.

Other than that I love OB4CL.

I always thought it was one of the highlights. Musical choices like that were what made the album so dramatic and made RZA so different to the competition.

Honestly BIG THANK YOU to all Coli Breh's on here. You get it.

OBFCL 1 and 2 are masterworks.

When I met Raekwon for the first time I told him
"Your Only built for Cuban Linx is a MASTERPIECE!"

And he looked at me and said "Haaa, Masterpiece"

Then he said "That's the Street Bible right there."

What a moment.

I studied this album for over 29 years.

For it to hit like this in 2024 is something spiritual. It's something else. It really is.

It is the best and most timeless seasonal song in rap history.
On the best seasonal long player ever made in rap history.

You will not get no records better than those wu tang series of records in the history of rap.

Art Barr

Yup.

It's empowering to listen to when life gets too busy.

"My man is going insane" - the girl sings.

Yeah, we can go insane temporarily - it's not even mental Illness. It's natural. I wouldn't run for medicine right quick if I get angry or fearful. So that part talks about how crazy life can get, but we can bounce back.

It's totally a seasonal song, you're right.

it doesn’t sound better in 2024, too many of you old heads operating on nostalgia. It’s still does sounds better than Rae’s latest releases though I will give you that

Yup. It's such a strong album. And it's grimy and dusty in a different way. It's high class but grimy.

It's one of the best albums in music not just Hip Hop.

"Record breaking the album Thriller!"

Yo, were there any Ghost and Rae loosies, rare joints or demos from this time?

I feel like there weren't really loosies back in that time frame, pre-internet program/message board days. I don't remember Wu being heavy on the mixtape scene either. The only 1-offs would be if they dropped a single with a b-side maybe?

Pretty much a handful of B-sides & soundtrack cuts.

Wu Gambinos or Cold World remixes, etc (b-sides)

Rap burglars, Diesel, who's the champion, etc as soundtrack cuts

Unfortunately they don’t have the huge catalog of unreleased bangers like Nas or Mobb has. Part of that is bc RZA is meticulous, so most of what they recorded ended up released. The other part is due to those fukking floods

Her singing was so bad RZA had to sample "You sang beautifully just now" cuz no one in the studio could say it.
