Lowkey, you on point with this take. I would personally add MIB as well to his good resume, but the grand majority of Will Smith projects have been duds. Martin Lawrence is actually the one that put him on to Bad Boys, so he needed an assist to land that role.

Even after the slap a lot of people were more so mad at him for potentially messing up his career and getting black balled, but ultimately people just like Will Smith.
When a person is well liked people usually give them the benefit of the doubt. Plus Will hasn't been known to be a 'bad' person either, no scandals (beyond his marriage), allegations, criminal offenses, etc.
