You suuuure I haven't always done that :usure:
Think about it. I told you NOT to buy a PS4 right now, maybe ever
I told you Killzone was shyt
I told you DriveClub was deemed shyt since day -1
I told you to pay attention, cuz you paying for PSN which is no different than free PSN
(That's a lie, this PSN goes down more often, even less stable)

When I dropped all those helpful jewels, I was thrown in the kennel slammer, stripped of posting abilities/etc.

You rep the hunger side, I don't recall you EVER talking about a game you was enjoying :heh:
I'm sure its just a coincidence :sas2:

I'm cooler WHEN I talk about Xbox bruh, but not too cool because then I'd turn blue
I'm all about that action boss, dat greener side action :ez:

haha I'll break it down. The current hdmi all of your devices have doesnt have the bandwidth to show 4k resolutions at 60hz with full color. So they came out with a new version of hdmi called hdmi 2.0 that outputs enough bandwidth for all of that. There's also another type of output that has more bandwidth than old HDMI and it's called Display Port. High end pc monitors use display port and high end PC graphics cards have display port outputs. So if you have a gaming PC and want to do 4k you need either a video card that supports HDMI 2.0, which only the nvidia gtx 970 and 980 have or you need a tv that has a diplay port input, which only Panasonic makes on their 4k tvs. Also netflix and amazon have 4k streaming but they are using a new codec called H265 and a lot of 4k smart tvs don't have support for that codec so they can't even show netflix or amazon at 4k.

Basically wait until January when CES 2015 takes place and they announce all of the upcoming TV's for next. Sony has 4k curved android TV's coming out with proper HDMI ports.

I dont have a TV right now at all.

I was just gonna buy this:

I watch netflix and amazon. But I mostly watch shyt off my computer so I'll have it hooked up via hdmi.

You think its a waste? What would you recommend I buy (for under $500)?

That tv doesnt have hdmi 2.0 or displayport and is only 30hz in 4k so you couldnt game in 4k on it. If you only watch movies and tv or just wanna game in 1080p it would be completely fine, especially for that price. Otherwise, considering your budget, I would wait to check out black friday deals.

i dont need to game in 4k, i really dont play much games.

but as far as movies and TV...if the content im downloading is 4k...will i be able to watch it in 4k on that tv? no, because if its connected via hdmi...then it will not support it right? it has to be hdmi 2.0?

so if i plan on getting the majority of my content thru hdmi...my tv has to support hdmi 2.0 and my graphics card has to support hdmi 2.0 in order to watch 4k...is that correct?

No you can watch tv and movies in 4k on that tv because tv's and movies are 24hz basically 24 frames per second. That tv has hdmi 1.4, which can do up to 30hz in 4k, so it's just fine for tv and movies. The only thing is it won't be future proofed for 4k blurays to see the extra colors etc. but you'll never find a 4k tv with hdmi 2.0 for 500 right now.

Black Friday TV are usually cheap junk. Low end models made just to sell at low price points. The best time to buy a new TV is in the middle of spring to early summer when the new models are coming in and the previous years models go on clearance so retailers can make room for new TVs.

True, but we're talking about a $500 budget and he said he doesnt have a TV at all so I'm saying if it's a priority at least check black friday for deals. I've seen decent TV's at bestbuy on black fridays in the past.

when u only have minimal content, shyt was destined to be the next 3D TV just as I predicted :yeshrug:

This. I really want a 4k projector, but there's really no content out there yet. The only one I heard about was Sony offering a download service of 4k films or some shyt, but that was it. Haven't really kept up with it though.

Wherever whores go.....
I'd rather manufacturers focus on OLED so we can drive that price down for a real change in quality everyone can actually notice and enjoy. Not just a random spec that may or may not come into play.

The problem is the average consumer is a dumbass and only understands quantitative branding ( 4K > 1080 > 720 ) but doesn't understand qualitative branding ( plasma > OLED > LCD ).

4K is a resolution. OLED is new enterily new method. One is more easier to produce than the other.

They are "concentrating" on 4K because it's cheaper to produce. OLED is still very expensive, and a 4K OLED is way above most customers price point.
