Yes, I used Mint before I started using YNAB. The YNAB method of budgeting is way better than Mint. The best thing to do is try the trial version of the app and read through the tutorials so you can learn how to use it, and they also have videos and live classes you can join to teach you. The only advantage Mint has is that it's free, but YNAB is worth it because you'll save way more than the $50 a year it costs once you learn the method.
It takes discipline and a little bit of luck (I.E. no unforeseen expenses). Will you save as much as everybody else? No. But it can be done. Just gotta know what you can and can't go without.

If you are single making just under 40k a year that is not poor . Saving 200 a month is decent in 3 months thats 600 dollars how is that bad ?

If I was back to making forty k salary a year even without a commission tacked on to it.
I would save 1700 a month easy.
Maybe even more than that, if they had a church's chicken around here and two dollar Tuesday.
I would spend twenty bills and have two weeks worth of lunch and have forty out my lunch budget every week to play around with.
Without, having to even touch a petty cash pot I was setting to the side.
That is why I keep applying regardless of being blackballed.
