I don’t think it’s York’s decision to keep Harbaugh…I think Harbaugh is a ready to go as York is to let him go…it’s a mutual divorce
This part stuck out to me…
August 1, 2014: Again speaking on the topic of a Harbaugh contract extension, York tells Matt Maiocco he spoke with Harbaugh about a new deal and Harbaugh decided that it was too early to do an extension, because as the leader of the team he didn’t want to set the wrong precedent by signing a new deal with two years remaining on his current
WTF?? If you want a deal you don’t delay negotiations, until after the season…because you might have a bad season. You at least start the negotiations and set the prospective parameters of any deal, imo
Also, I have never heard Harbaugh say this season that he wants to be the coach of the niners in the future, past the current 5th year on his deal. Harbaugh is a strange dude, but even he is not above lobbying to keep his own gig…But then again he doesn’t have to…He probably has his next job already lined up after the niners fire/trade/release him.
So again I say can you keep a guy that doesn’t wanna be kept?? Probably not
