Guarantee you that the OP was born in 97 or 98 or later. You probably don't even remember the early 2000s like that. The bad times made the "fun" times really uneasy. It was a time of high anxiety because folks were paranoid after 911 and there was fukk up after fukk up. That was the theme of the decade. Fear.

And I was knee deep in the sandboxes in Iraq, Afghanistan and Sudan around that time. On ordinary or block leaves from duty, when I was home..folks were still partying, still living..of course there was heightened sense of paranoia but folks weren't on it like that especially after '03.

Hell yes the early to mid 2000s was fun as hell but that’s mostly due to my age. I was in my early 20 to mid 20s. I can’t imagine living now how I used to. Running the streets, working, making music, going to school and still had time for various broads. I used to barely sleep. Clubs were still the shyt. Clothes were big as hell. Braids and doo rags.
