Frankly, Patrick Mahomes has looked a lot less superhuman without Tyreek Hill.

Then again, it's asking a lot to score points with Tyquan Thornton, Hollywood Brown, and Juju Smith-Schuster. Not exactly elite WRs.
The Chiefs don't have a strong running game and at age 35, they cannot expect Travis Kelce to be a 1,000 yard TE anymore.

When Rashee Rice returns, that will help. But I'm not sure it will be enough.

Secondly, football has lots of pieces in movement. No matter how good you are, if those key pieces not working it's not going work for you.

If a qb doesn't have an OL hes not going look good. Because not only are you getting pressured but you cant run the ball either which applies more pressure.

If a qb doesn't have an absolute dog at wr (doesn't have to be a pro bowler but it must be your go to guy) it stunts their confidence because they have to be absolutely perfect on every throw.

Thirdly, God forbid your OC or HC is trash or the league has figured them out.
