Edit: Pretty much anytime a thread is made on the coli and all of a sudden there are a whole bunch of "guests" in it. We are being watched .


I remember in the industry plant era there was a point where there were 123 guests in our threads n shyt

Before, it was all about how them dudes weren't bowing down to the industry, making the music THEY wanted to make, keeping the majors away from their shyt.

Now we find out that the "independent" music was all major label influenced.

Now folks are like "I still enjoy the music." And that's cool. But why try to criticize people who think blatant lying outside of the music is corny?

Same nikkas who eat at Taco Bell knowing none of that shyt is real meat... but hey, it still tastes good though.

I was gonna say that. At the end of the day, the streets do decide who prospers and who doesnt. Alot of rappers get lowkey pushed on these forums, but the ones who attract the most attention or controversy or who the people naturally are attracted to are the one's who rise to the top. You gotta have that special something that makes people wanna talk about you, wheter its good or bad.

I don't get the outrage either. Ill use Drake as an example, I really don't care if the guy was created in a lab with DNA sliced from rappers of years past or not. I think he makes damn good mainstream Hip Hop. Whether he really started from the bottom or not, the music is good. fukk it. Some people are too old to be worrying about the 'backstory' anyways.

These "I don't care as long as the music is good" people are the part of the reason that there will never be a truly successful independent scene anymore.

But these days, I guess people don't care if everything is all mainstream as long as they like it. That's hip-hop for you though.

The fans are not the problem. If the music is good then people buy it. However too many rappers are worried about being a 'star' so they sign up with majors.

How is the independent scene going to be successful if rappers are letting executives talk them into signing contracts and not staying independent?

Exactly... Whether people are "planted" or not ultimately the music is gonna have to stick... There's TONS of failed "plants" lol.... But if that music picks up a base, then more resources will be tossed... And, if it picks up crazy FULL backing until they decide to make the already official "Official"
