thats what im saying, videos dont fukk matter no more, nobody give a shyt bout them

I wouldn't say they DONT matter, they just matter in a much different way.

Like if say BET or MTV thought the video was too controversial for tv and refused to play it, something like that will not matter at all in the internet age. At this point, the laptop has pretty much replaced the television. The song would still get a billion youtube views, continue to kill the radio (like its been doing really) etc. Everyone who fukks with the song will continue to fukk with it. Nobody is gonna see a music video and NOT like a song anymore because of it. Like come on bruh...

that's where it doesn't matter.. but obviously visuals are still a big part of hip hop. Still, the days of a music video having any type of effect on a songs success has been over for years.

just saying people are going to see it and be like WTF?

and what's that gonna do besides raise interest?

you said the video is gonna hamper the songs success. Are less people gonna like the song now because they'll see the video and go WTF? it doesn't make sense

I was excited at the start of the video but by the end... :beli:
He can always make another version of the video, ideally with more miguel and women.

:ohhh:

What if this is just one version of it and he was really just thinking that all in his head while he was just chillin' in the strip club the whole time?

I said the video will hinder the amount of success that it potentially could have had. The song speaks for itself... it's catchy, bytches will sing it, but going into the summer, he could have had a big summer smash hit and a dope visual to capitalize on it. I think he dropped the ball in that regard.

Video is straight, but he could have done a lot more with it IMO.

SMH at people wanting the SAME CLICHE TYPE VIDEO of strippers, so-called "visuals" and negate storytelling altogether.

this is a fucckin' dope as video with a surprised TWIST. and you wonder why people say HIP HOP today is wack because n*ggaz be doing the same redundant sh*t. yet when someone DOES something out of the NORM of whut everybody else is doing... people are up in arms about it..

y'all are the ones crippling hip hop.

nikka shut up.

The shyt was FORCED. Listen to the lyrics and watch the video. They don't even correlate. If he wanted to go this route, he should have done more to flesh out the story he was telling.

The visual of him in the club not even paying attention to the strippers paired with him daydreaming about his, "dream" girl would have been better for what this SONG is. Then he could have ended it with Miguel popping up at the strip club and then ended it with him plotting to get him or some shyt.

I am a BIG fan of Cole, but the concept of this video was forced and could have been handled better for what he's looking for...

Nice song, nice video. I appreciate him for not going the obvious route for the video.

Since when was it written in stone song lyrics had to go play by play with a video? :wtf:

The whole concept makes perfect sense, y'all wanted him sitting in bed texting the ho and writing dear diary letters about her?

No the fukk it's not.

I said the video will hinder the amount of success that it potentially could have had.

but how nikka, explain this theory

is the current run of this song jumping from 10+ spots on the billboard hot 100 every week (was #91 a month ago, now its #48 ) gonna suddenly stop because of the video?

is all the success suddenly gonna halt now?
