i would say all albums listed were well produced

i was expecting you to be more technical then just "i like this album more" since youre pushing your opinion as fact. there is absolutely some objectivity in music/production. but its ok if you don't like the album.
The album is good, just being overrated which is predictable at this point for Cole. He's basically the Taylor Swift of hiphop.

I wasn't even talking about which albums I like more, I was specifically talking about the production of each one, but whatever

Nah, if you think KOD and Motiv8 are good beats you must not listen to much music at all
Those songs and beats are fukking fire.
And all other beats aren in the vein of TRADITIONAL 90S HIP HOP.

IF YOU DONT PREFER THE PRODUCTION OF TRADTIONAL 90S HOP HOP THAN THAT IS ON YOU.

But don't deride J Cole last 2 albums because he is the one of the few mainstream perveyors of thar sound.

Oh and I think it is no conicidence that Jay Z change in production choices for 444 was done after j coles 4 Your Eyes.

J Cole leads the culture from behind imo.
Even the success of his documentary content on platforms like HBO lead to subsequent Hip Hop Hop documentary content on platforms like Netflix.

I think his beats were a lot better in the Warm Up/FNL era. That was when he did HiiPower, which is one of the best beats of this decade

The biggest problems are the drums I think. There's a lot going on with them but they sound so tiny so it just makes it all sound worse. And the samples are really muted. I think if he went with some harder boom nap drums and made the samples sound "bigger" these beats would be flames.

Yeah something about his mixing and maybe the drums samples he uses seems off and if changed could make the beats better but I like the beats on this. At least better then the sad dreary 4 your eyes only instrumentation.
I like J Cole but his beats are :patrice:
I get what he’s doing :manny:
His fan base are into him and his movement not his music:jbhmm:
And I get it :ehh:
He says a lot of dope shyt that needs to be said :wow:
But some of his beats are so :russell:
And his best beats are :manny:

His beats are fire sometimes like Wet Dreamz but I think he should follow the advice he gave Krit and get more guest producers on his next one. Krit is a better producer then Cole imo.

Jay-Z has always worked with various producers throughout his career. His production changes on every album depending on the sound he's going for.

444 doesn't even sound like 4YEO so I don't even know wtf you're talking about

This is a dope album!
Cole really went a different direction and it’ll pay off in terms of his legacy.

You got to show growth when you roll in the lane of the likes of Cole, KDot & Drake.

Those guys have established some sort of longevity in hip-hop.

Happy for all the brothers reaching new heights with their music. :salute:

J Cole comes through on 4YEO with a 90s Hip Hop organic sound, and then Jay Z's 444 comes with a conventional Hip Hop sound, that has a more sample and loop based sound while somewhat modernized. That is a departure from Jay Z's prior album Magna Carta.

Out of 0 to 5 stars how many stars do you give J Cole's KOD album right now? I know it is kind of early.

I consume and critique every thing I listen to.

Maybe it's because I listen to a lot of releases and go about generating my own opinion on it prior to looking at what the internet has to say about it. I'm a Cole fan, but unlike you Cole stans I actually don't blindly deem everything he releases as amazing.

And it's not like there's been a drought in quality hip-hop releases in the last 6-12 months. So when you consistently listen to good music that drops, you're not going to be as easily impressed by any and everything.

I've been consistent with my criticism of Cole since FHD (which I feel is unbelievably overrated). His bars have improved since then, but he still has yet to step out of his comfort zone and really challenge himself musically as an artist.

If you're giving me 10-11 songs they all need to deliver... Not just 7 or 8 of them. The margin for error is smaller.

I'm realizing that hip-hop fans really aren't hip-hop fans anymore. They're just fans of their artists and that's it. Completely clueless and dismissive of damn near everything else happening within the genre... That's how Cole can spit out a project in 2 weeks with some songs with unpolished production, and lazy singing in them and people call it great... Because they really don't know any better.
You and I both know that music is just like beauty....everybody sees something different, music should always be about you and what you like, why waste time trying to understand what others like or what makes there ears tingle ......that’s weird:russ:

Not 4 Your Eyes Only you mean 2014 Forrest Hills Drive. I think No ID may have been influenced sonically by Forrest Hills Drive which is why 4:44 is mixed the way it is. On Forrest Hills Drive Cole was speaking on how he didn't mix the album loudly on purpose so it had a richer sound.

my post implies nothing. just answer the quesiton

If you don't think Kevin's Heart is the worse beat you heard this year then you gotta a problem.

You gotta an Album in your AVI with A1 production. How can you champion this beats you hear on this album plus he's still using the same young samba drums

Album flows so well. nikka stomped on Lil Pumps head at the end :banderas:

Can you please tell me how he's going at Lil Pump on that song when here clearly states he's talking about someone black?
