That's management. Not really a knock on his creative freedom with his music.

Section.80, GKMC, TPAB and Damn. weren't lacking in creative freedom at all. Each sound completely different, and the content isn't necessarily ideal for the face of a label.

Kendrick has always had creative freedom with his releases...we can't say the same for Cole who's openly admitted to compromising his sound/vision in his debut just to get a release date. And now, later on in his career, he appears to be trying to make up for that with his recent releases

One song? The workout one? Album 2 sounded different and he dropped when Kanye dropped which was unheard of.

This album is crazy man .... I really can’t recall playing back a Cole project this much since Friday Night Lights :whew:

I’m talking about front to back consistency .... different production styles ... different topical ranges ... different flows ... yet all tied together thematically :whew:

This shyt going crazy right now :whew:

Drake didnt share a state with Future Drake performed for 1 hour and 30 minutes and Future did 20 minutes

Drake sold out MSG 4 days straight.

Cole is not on Drake or Kendrick's level. Future, Migos and Sean are very close or equal to Cole.

I can't cosign this. Obviously Drake is #1, and Kendrick is #2 (in terms of popularity/sales/etc). You're arguing that it's basically those two...and everyone else is below them on various other levels. I'd still argue this is a room with 3 people in it, including Cole, and then everyone else comes after. You posted on tour info already lol: Sean can't do an arena tour like Cole did. Neither can Future, whose last tour was mainly amphitheaters and parks. I'm not knocking Future, he's clearly successful...but he isn't touring like Cole.

Drake, Kendrick, Cole

---

Future, Migos

---

Sean, Chance

Cole is gonna at least do 500k first week. Future/Migos/etc aren't in that ballpark.

He goes in detail on Let Nas Down. It was more than just one song, it was plenty of songs prior to that one where he was just reaching to get a release date.

Now y'all want to have revisionist history.

And even tho Born Sinner is my fav album from him, even that had Crooked Smile on it.

It was mainly workout. Cause the other songs wasnt commercial enough so he didn’t a release

He tired to push who dat and blow up as the singles. Both far from sellout songs. Then he went to the drawing board to try and craft s commercial single which was a when he compromised his sound

Lol who day and blow up where far from commercial

Mr nice watch and work out u have a point

Nobody’s perfect is Cole from the fnl days lol. That’s the exact songs he was making then, only difference he wanted it to song like Aaliyah was singing the hook. In his mixtape days he would be signing the hook. And if it was today he would be signing the hook also.

My point is that when we're talking about "creative freedom" from J. Cole and Kendrick, it's evident that Cole's has made more compromises in his catalog in comparison. I didn't even list shyt like Crooked Smile and Wet Dreamz which are just cringeworthy for me.

:manny:

@gluvnast made a claim that Kendrick has less creative freedom than Cole, and I'm saying based off of the content they've dropped, I don't agree.
