Why was she on there?

I'm not sure of the real reason because I can't ask her.

I was surprised that she was on WOF because he always talked about how he wants to keep their relationship private. People who want to stay private don't go on tv because they know they will be discussed if they do.

Her voice is funny and kind of adorable to me. I'll post the episode after they post it on youtube.

Combat is great at what he does and he should continue to do what he did despite a few cake nikkas complaining. Not all of hip hop is about that Hip Hop Weekly, TMZ, DJ Vlad bullshyt. Theres heads that want to know more about the artists, how they created certain records, How they got signed, their careers and different stories from back in the day too. Theres more to hip hop than dusty nikka shyt

Great interview.

Get some west coast artist MY nikka!

the thing with getting West Coast artists they have to be in NY at the time to catch the interview & they have to have the time to get it done. they're not the type of cats to do a podcast with some dude over skype with sound problems & the whole 9 they prefer to sit down and do it for real in the studio.

disagree. clearly he's following very few of these imaginary industry rules and thriving despite it from less press to no club single to keeping his private life-private. that was the point of the whole interview about how he's broken away from this archaic view of the step-by-step to be successful and instead he's following his heart/instincts which has led him past every other rapper, last year. instead of focusing on satisfying that age old laundry list he focused on his music, then released it and it worked better than any other rapper's super-saiyan viral campaign.
@CrimsonTider and I have broken down numerous times why this idea of J. Cole's success somehow being some new method for other artists to follow is improbable, and how he has a very specific fan base. Second, he himself said that he DID do promotion this time around so that the album gets the attention he believes it deserves. You guys are not realizing that your very perception of Cole is marketing in and of itself, even if he is genuine. Showing up at the rallies, the Mike Brown song, showing up directly at the house of fans, dropping his album by surprise to galvanize his core fan base, all of it fits into what he is supposed to embody--the everyman. A MCHG like promotion tour would turn off half his fan base. With that said, I like dude, he says some things that I cannot imagine still saying at 30 (and I'm only 25...mostly politics wise), but people mature in different ways. He says other things (relationships) that are more mature than I am. All in all, I don't see anything wrong with the type of interview Combat Jack did and I like Cole :manny:

What's up with ppl and saying they are surprised at what Cole says at 30. What are you expecting him to say and how are you expecting him to feel?

I can go on the long list of examples of what I'm surprised at what most these rappers say at their age.

It seem like Cole is always the one singled out cuz he's approaching things different from the next dime a dozen rapper

I'm really not sure which part you disagree with. Maybe you should have bolded it.

If you're talking about the part where I said being extremely private won't help. It won't. & Notice that you said he passed every rapper LAST YEAR. I don't really remember any popular rappers (drake, jayz, kedrick) putting anything out last year, so that more than likely has something to do with it. & he did do things to promote his album. The ferguson visit and him being spotted at the protest helped a lot. Him popping up on people, advertisement. Him inviting people to his old home, advertisement. His angie interview helped too, that was afterwards though.

already has. and its not his job to line an album up with a popular rapper. he JUST said he's not worrying about what other dudes do, he's focused on himself, now. (but for shyts and giggles, he has already outsold kanye head to head on the release date, so there goes that theory). as for the ferguson thing. he said it was a favor to his man at complex to even do that little interview about it. if you want to use that to illustrate other motives, fine. i thought he was genuinely concerned and nothing he has done or said since then has contradicted that. if he's playing this, he's doing it to a T, because every interview and the music has been right in line with his equality "stance." i mean the week his album dropped he went on letterman and performed a none radio friendly song that wasnt on the album....

as for the rest of that, i havent seen any footage of him popping up on people and inviting them to his old home, so if its promotion and he hasnt put up a site or atleast a youtube page to show "hey, i care yall, look!" its kinda half thought out. either that or dare i say it might be...genuine.

The World, but from BK
I think all areas are important to cover. Personal life/Gossip included. I think if you get to know the person better, you can understand and enjoy their music better. You can also tell if the person is fake. If they're saying one thing in their songs and interviews, but doing something else irl. If their public image is just an image or is it actually the real them.

avoiding the media & being extremely private will not help his career or anyone else's during these times. Even Beyonce had to become a little bit more public with her private life, that's why she made her an instagram and more bts documentaries ect.

Cole has always made it a point to not talk about his relationship. Angie Martinez try to get it out of him also but he just won't talk about it because he wants his privacy. Fans want know too much these days.

I can't believe people are hating on this interview/CJ interviews in general.

This is why I listen to dude, because I get to know a lot more than the usual shyt you hear on TMZ, etc. I stopped fukking with the Breakfast Club a while ago (trust me, I listened to EVERY interview for a straight 2 years, sometimes even twice. But they never had any real depth.

I like what CJ brings out in these artists. It's clear Cole has been reading some Buddhist scriptures, as he references the biggest cause of pain in life is the attachment and the fear of letting go. It is one of the Buddhism's main focuses

Anyway @CombatJack keep shining man!

Yo hearing Cole talk about spring lake, blacks trailer parks, military housing I'm like yo this is basically what my story would be if I was a rapper. A nikka really made it from outta here.

Before they put the fence up it was mad people on the porch taking pictures and hanging out I ain't know they was going on the roof and stealing the signs tho :mjlol:
