Disagree. Cole has rapped literally with a bunch of all timers and never been killed on any track

Cole has actually avoided spitters for most of his career. Benny counts, Royce counts, but multiple Wale and Bas features dont count.

And Dababy and Lil Baby have smoked Cole on his own songs. What does that mean when pop rappers are killing you on your own song?

J Cole never been signed to def jam in his life. You dudes literally say anything lol

And his debut had no push, everyone was clowning him, he couldn’t get a jay feature ect

He tripled expectations and recouped his first week lol.

Y’all wasnt around then bro lol. Cole never had the push like say a Kendrick in his entire career
I couldn't remember the record label (Roc Nation) but I was around then. I felt like he was getting a push because he had a lot of articles and his singles were on music tv a lot even though they were mid. Maybe I'm wrong and its just my way of making it make sense.

I thought he improved after that album, although looking back I remember Lights Please and a few others being good songs.

:dead: @ you wasnt around like j cole was some hidden treasure. the jay-z and roc nation cosign is what blew j cole up. jay-z putting j cole on a song called A STAR IS BORN on one of his best selling albums ever is what blew j cole up. the warm up made ZERO noise when it was released (i heard it back then though just off the strength of the roc nation cosign). you think j cole gets a kanye west look and thrown on a good friday track without that jay-z cosign? you think j cole gets on a beyonce song without that jay-z cosign?

and stop bringing up this nikkas body of work like hes kendrick or drake. his albums are the definition of dirt compared to the real kings of his generation. kendrick & drake lapped that man 3 times over with the album quality (GKMC, TPAB, Damn, Section 80, Take Care, Nothing Was The Same, If Youre Reading This).

Cole World Sideline Story - 3/10
Born Sinner - 7.5/10
Forest Hills Drive - 8.5/10
4YEO - 5/10
KOD - 6/10
The Offseason - 8/10

cam was a part of 3 albums better than everything on that list :mjlol:
Not arguing with no dummy man. The warm up was the 2nd biggest tape from a new artist during that period after so far gone

Cole was all over the net at that point and was getting features off it. He was the biggest thing all over every music board and fans were pitting him and drake together as those 2 best of the best guys

Star is born didn’t blow up no Cole you goofy, neither did “we like to party remix” that damn near nobody in life heard. I don’t know anyone who knows that remix, everyone knows the 3k version

J Cole got on the hood Friday song cause the fans bombared Kanye twitter telling him to put j cole on it.

J cole got the call to jump on it and was given a hour cause the track was bout to drop and he literally destroyed everyone on it.

While i can’t talk with clowns like you, y’all don’t know wtf y’all be talking bout

This is a lie lmao. Dude was featured on the Blueprint 3 and Jay was on his debut. Jay even put him on a song with Beyonce. He couldn’t get a release date because he couldn’t produce a big single and back then that was necessary. His album came out when Work Out became a top 10 hit. Cole got a bigger push than any of his contemporaries than Kendrick, Drake and maybe young Cudi.
It was a long running joke that Cole wasn't going get a release date from Hov. Kendrick was labeled as next for LA and the West Coast. Dr.Dre and many other legends from LA fully backed him, you cannot be serious.

Wale had a Lady Gaga feature for his lead single...lol

Cole was getting clowned like Jay didn't even know him and like he had to beg for a release date.

Dudes come in and make they own truth years later. Funny enough we was all on this board and sohh. And been with each other for like 15+ years. We have a 100 threads from that era

A big sean Stan on the board would make a thread about how big sean lapped Cole everyday for months until cole outside him by a lot on they debutes lol

Dudes goofy talking bout j cole mixtapes didn’t do anything for him lol

Lmao I like how you tried to pad your list out by listing dudes Cole rapped with once on a posse cut.

You know exactly what I'm referring to. Songs like the one with Benny where hes tryna battle the other artist for the best verse. shyt like Let Nas Down Remix doesnt count.

Kiss, Fab, Cam all had no issue rapping with anyone on a song. Cole on the other hand is extremely selective, just like Kendrick.

Same thing I said in the Ross thread: Cole objectively has better albums than Jada, but I'd never put Cole higher than Jada on a list.

Fab and Cam? Who cares. neither would be on any rap list I create.

You wasn’t around then either, the clowning came from jay declining multiple songs to get on. Yea he got a jay verse, shyt was absolutely trash tho, the talk was jay ain’t fukk with him or believe in him. And Cole has spoken on that years later on songs, jay throwing him in a room with star gate to try and get them to help him with a hit ect

Jay wasn’t ushering him around like ye was doing with big Sean and others was doing wit they artist

Cole sustain cause of his mixtape grind, the warm up, Friday night lights is what blew Cole up.

Sit down somewhere, I’m probably older or just as old as you. Grew up on kids, cam, Cole has a greater body of work then both of them. And will be remembered as greater then both. Neither of them was a top nothing in they era.

Fab is way out his weight class
Drake had peak Wayne o usher him in

Kendrick had Dre on a single and the west coast legends giving him the thrown

Cole had a wishy washy relationship with Jay. There is no music video where the two are seen together. It was like Jay gave Cole the cold shoulder. But he grind from the bottom and his fans never left him.

Cole better than Jada? Nah not even close. I would say he’s a technically a better rapper than Cam and Fab but certainly not a better artist than either.

Hov Stan. That verse was trash. Cole also got at hov on “star is born”
What you mean “got at Hov”? nikka was featured on the song and his verse had nothing to do with Hov and then he was taken on the Blueprint 3 tour. Lmao. You really bought into Cole being mad about not getting a release date because he didn’t have a big single even though every rapper that got released in that era had a big lead single. Literally all of them. His complaints were never rational and all emotion.

nikka, did you just stupidly say I cannot be serious and then name people like Kendrick who
I named? Did you every read my post or did you want to dikkride Cole so much it made you temporarily illiterate? The running joke was explained pretty clearly in my post as because he didn’t produce a big single. What the fukk does a Gaga feature mean to a hip hop audience compared to being out on a Beyonce single, the BP3 Tour, the Blueprint 3 itself and getting hailed as the only rapper on Roc Nation? Jay Z literally made Cole go learn from the dudes who wrote Rihanna and Ne-Yo hits. You nikkas took that Forest Hills Drive documentary too seriously. Jay just didn’t walk around with him like Ye with Sean and Drake with Weezy. That’s literally it. Sean was crying about Ye neglecting him too.

This was a running joke, people forget. We used to joke how you never saw a picture with Jay and Cole in it lol
