Cole is never going to reach that level of love, not with that kind of output. And even if this album somehow turns out great (which would be a first), it’s still nothing compared to someone with a 15-year prime.

I enjoyed the song but it felt somewhat derivative.
Maybe 10 years ago, telling a story backwards would've been more mind-blowing as a homage to Nas but, in 2026, we've seen many rappers use this technique.
That said, Cole still snapped and stayed on topic throughout that whole lyrical exercise so he gets props for that. I hope he does something more unique in the rest of the Fall Off though.

What happened to this J Cole......it's like a night and day difference in artistry. Can't even remember the last time he wrote a great chorus.
