Grown Men Who Worship Athletes Are Scary

:snoop: More like embarassing. I know a lot of it is jokes, but I read through some posts in Kobe threads like :rudy: It's a difference between being a fan of a dude's game and sucking his dikk. Some of these posts read like they were written by middle schoolers

naw, duke is right. At the end of the day b-ball is just a fun game. I mean, when you were young, you didnt play "loan officer", "accountant", or "selling insurance" w/ your friends.

I obviously get what you're saying --- within the context of the game, there is hard work, and many work harder than some and there is a lot of pressure involved, but its just a game.

life is a game:manny:

the object = happiness...and society has defined happiness as financial security, its all a game

Lets not be needlessly existential here. Basketball is an activity that millions participate in strictly for fun --- how many people do tedious activities like bookkeeping for fun? Point is that getting up in the morning to work on your jumpshot and cardio, is more appealing than getting up for 8 hours of ledger accounting, or construction in the cold. You cant admit this much?

youre seriously underrating the workload of a dedicated NBA player like Kobe..hardwork is hardwork period, the only difference between athletes and regular working citizens, is the fact that athletes enjoy their work and can see contractual benefits from putting in OT

Man, I've been playing hockey since I was 3, essentially my whole life. I've played at every level (OHL/NCAA) except the pros. I grew up my whole life playing against guys who are in the NHL right now. Two of my best friends included. If it wasn't for multiple concussions I got when I was 17 and 18, I'd probably be in the NHL myself. So I think I have a bit of an understanding of the dedication it takes to compete at a high level in a sport but thts all it is, a sport. Me playing a game my whole life was nothing compared to the work my mom an dad put in so I could even play the game I loved. They bust their a$$ to make that possible for me and despite all the hard work and dedication I put into playing hockey, it's still nothing compared to the work and sacrifices they made for me. No matter how you slice it, Kobe gets to play a game for a living while making millions of dollars at the same time. It's not comparable.
