Joe has never been in any argument as the top rapper or most popular rapper at any moment in his lifetime.

He's just great at networking so he's always getting support, plus he's "real hip-hop" certified because of his early background, and he's able to come out with a hit every other year out of nowhere. But he was never consistent as a popular rapper like Ja was at one point. Ja vs. Nelly is probably the most equal comparison/battle for this.

You can’t be serious. They were the biggest artists in the world. You must think sales only dictate that.

Ja Rule was barely a platinum artists when he was on that cover much less. You weren’t around then and it’s clear. What other metric determines how big an artists is aside from sales & tour revenue? You over extended yourself clearly. Jay-Z & X were among the biggest artists in rap at a time when rap was booming commercially but that doesn’t mean they were the biggest artists in the world.

You’re all over the place smh That XXL Murda Inc cover was put out around the time Ja’s debut. That MTV awards you’re referencing was by like his 3rd album…VVV went platinum during the album run

For as big as X & Jay were they were not seeing Mariah, Britney, *NSYNC, Limp Bizkit, Kid Rock, Koran etc who were going in some cases Diamond

They were big for what was rapper standards because it was only around this time rap became recognized as the dominant genre

Holla Holla is from Ja’s debut album. Even had Busta & Jay on the remix. He was right behind Jay & X as far as one of the top artists.

I'm still trying to figure out how people actually thought Fat Joe was going to win. Then again, The Booth places relevance above everything.
I thought he was gonna win for a couple of reasons. 1) He has a deeper catalogue to pull from 2) Ja Rule's singles were bullshyt THEN, they sound even worse now.

I underestimated how much Ja Rule's run meant to people of a certain age bracket, and I think Joe tried to play music for the demo he thought would be there, but they weren't there.

Ja would win tbh. :manny: Unless you're getting busy to diss tracks I don't see how 50 wins. Ja's hit list is stronger.

Can’t lie I thought Ja was gonna get washed last nite. Joe did himself no favors by playing tough guy all nite. The fact that Ja didn’t play into it made Joe look even cornier and mad sensitive

Now a week later, everyone loves Ja again. The Coli is something else, lol.

Opinions and views change like the wind on here. Mad vapors.

Ja didn't win shyt. Neither did Joe. It's a matter of taste. If you like radio poppy joints, you'll probably be more into Ja. But if you like street shyt, and harder tracks, you'll probably lean more toward what Joe's been doing for years, no pun intended. But if we're talking 50 vs Ja, only one of them was able to kill the other's career.

Ja and Irv actually tried to blackball 50, and keep him from opportunities. That backfired on them, and he spent years punishing them for that and other personal shyt. 50 literally made it so that fans of Ja had to start keeping that to themselves. I don’t think there's been an instance in history as bad as Ja's reversal of fortune, after 50 basically dismantled his career. He killed that whole label. So I don’t see how anyone could even entertain a battle with these two. 50's already ended dude. What kinda battle can you win if you couldn't even sustain your actual career after someone killed your whole future in the business?
