Well they are both wrong. Being drafted doesn't make you property. Property doesn't have a say in anything. When you choose to enter the draft, you choose to deal with that set up. You can stop whenever you want and you are able to move around and yes...you are compensated handsomely. I do agree that there shouldn't be a draft though.

I know nikkas bout to go in on Jackie but I see dudes on here all the time echoing her sentiments. If you say it's a problem for players to team up but it's okay for teams to bring them together then you are saying the same thing. If you say it's problematic for players to sign deals and then demand trades but then say it's the owners prerogative to trade players as they see fit, you are saying the same thing. Any time you pine for the good old days and call for restrictions on players you are echoing what she's saying.

That's how I interpreted it, basically they control your future as long as you're under contract.

And at the end of the day if it’s such a big problem they can just trade him. But they’re not going to because KD is there. This is what the Nets signed up for as well.

East coast cacs are the worst. MacMullan this, McArthur that. They think everything belongs to them, they smile in your face but eventually show their true colors. Funnily, these east coast writers are one of big reasons why east coast NBA teams barely win championships these days.

Unfortunately the fact that teams can trade players and the players have no say and/or prior knowledge to where they end up, unless they have a clause in their contract, makes them property.

NBA players are employees of the NBA, not property. The players union has a collective bargaining agreement with the NBA. In what world does that make players the property of the owners of these teams? You are trying to tell me that unless a player has a no trade clause, he is a property of another man. The fukk? The players have already had their say about being able to be traded to another team in the league. They agreed to the shyt in their contracts and in the collective bargaining agreement. They agree that they can be traded to any of the teams if terms of their contract allows. The collective bargaining agreement also doesn’t allow the NBA to alter their contract once they are traded. The terms must be honored by the other team. These men are business men making individual deals under the collective bargaining agreement, not property
