Grew up in the church, and want to ask others who did also......WHEN did the title of 1st Lady start being applied to the Pastor's wife?

Was it after Michelle Obama became the official 1st Lady of the U.S.?

And if a woman carries that title, she should carry herself like a LADY. And not be dressing like that in public.

Pastor Bryant is a natural self promoter. Im not from Baltimore, nor have I attended church regularly in years, and even I knew who he was. He makes the headline every few years for controversy.
Unless Im confusing him for someone else, he drew controversy for quoting Chris Brown in the pulpit saying "These Hs aint loyal".
Under no circumstances should anybody use that tone or language inside of a church.

Controversies that surface around him since then have been on brand with that incident.
Im sure he does things that benefit the community, like leading the current boycotts, but he is who he is, and who he has shown himself to be.

Lol, I was going to say I feel like its always been that, but I don't have any working knowledge of titles used for church folks prior to college.

I don't really have much to say on the rest though. I see what everybody's saying, but I also... I don't wanna say don't care, but I'm ..I guess I'd say at least for a church function, she could have wore a better dress. I know, you represent the church even if its not a church function, but I'm the worst person to come to about rules, I would prefer to live in isolation and avoid all these social contracts. church, black community, america, what have you.

First Lady has always been the title of the wife of the pastor since I’ve been going to church. I’ve never known otherwise.
