I don't get this
he has a good arm, can make the nfl throws
he is fast and he has won
let's say you are right, well next year he will be in a pro offense and he may not even be the starter so he will have plenty of time to learn
Kaepernick is all of what you just wrote. Has Mariota ever took snaps under center? Um no. Do you know how many teams are in shotgun formation most of the time in the NFL? I would say about two. So a lot of these QB's have problems doing the 3 and 5 step drops. Have you seen Kaep do it? He looks horrible. I'm a Niner's fan btw. Have you seen RG3, he looks horrible when under center. Neither can read defenses. Mariota can't either.

Stop it. He is a gimmick offense QB. How are all of them faring in the NFL right now?

I'm telling you he makes big time throws. How about a 15 yard out route from the far hash? That's not a pro throw? Mariota makes that throw. Deep in cut/dig routes? He throws that. There will be a learning curve for him in the NFL, but rarely do rookies come in and understand defenses. Luck being the exception.

Kaepernick makes all the throws! What does that have to do with being able to read a defense? Kaep has ALL the physical tools to be an NFL QB. He can't read defenses though, so it's all for naught. I feel the same way about Mariota. Except he will be worse. He cracks under pressure easy when that one man aint open.

Kaep and RG3 aren't rookies, but still can't read defenses.

Fair point, however that haven't shown any progression in their game. They look the same now as they did as rookies. Mariota has shown improvement every year, that's a testament to his game. Chip Kelly was on ESPN yesterday before the game raving about mariotas intelligence as a freshman. I've seen him make many big time throws, and come off reads to other receivers. Oregon o line was dominated at times yesterday, he kept his eyes up, down the field on receivers as he had fat boys chasing him.

You are talking about what he is doing in college. I'm saying it won't translate to the NFL. shyt Tebow was balling out in college.

He seems to have all the talent and smarts, I don't see why not
scary thought for a nfl team to hope he learns

:lupe:

thats why a lot of those spread qbs fail in the nfl, they cant make the transition

now if your drafting mariota you really have to think about using the same offense to build up his confidence

Thing is with the hash argument, college hashes are 22 feet wider than the pros so the strong/weak side advantage is minimized. Honestly and no trolling, he gets in the right system with some good to great playmakers and a year on the pine to adjust, he will be good

I have definitely noticed this about Jameis, some of them throws he makes are so brilliant, he got me looking at the screen like :wtf: how he even do that?

I don't know if I agree about Mariotta being incapable of this, it's just very noticeable with jameis. I will say this, with the speed of the game in the NFL anticipation is simply necessary; as a skill, it even got Manning through the last 2 seasons by making up for his dead duck arm, which tells you how important it is

Hopefully Mariotta has or can gain this ability, I really liked watching him play at Oregon

edit: Don' even talk about My man Cardale, that cat is a beast, he stands alone, wait till he gets enough reps:sweetjeezus:

Jamesis is READY. You'd be a complete idiot not to take him. This the league and Winston plays like an NFL QB now, with more knowledge and QB training on an NFL level he is going to be that dude. Cah-dell needs a lot of seasoning but the tools, anticipation throws are already there. He just needs to see more complex defenses, develop better pocket presence. His deep ball accuracy is uncanny.

Mariotta...not impressive enough for me to analyze :yeshrug:

Breh these are all fundamentals to being a good QB. He has a good foundation to succeed at the next level. He needs to sit and learn NFL defenses and then rep it out at practice. He has all the tools to be great. He just needs time. Winston has all the tools as well. It shouldn't be one vs the other. They're both extremely gifted.
