MJ from 2009 to 2019

2009: $ 90 Million
2010: $275 Million
2011: $175 Million
2012: $145 Million
2013: $160 Million
2014: $140 Million
2015: $115 Million
2016: $825 Million
2017: $75 Million
2018: $400 Million
2019: $60 Million

:damn:

Why does it fluctuate so widely; 825 m to 75 m is a big jump.

I'm gonna step out of this argument because it will be hard to convince an American that another American is not globally influential.

I Shot The Sheriff

Redemption Song

One Love

Is This Love

No Woman No Cry

Could You Be Loved

The bolded ones are easily recognizable. I don’t even really like Reggae

:yeshrug:

One Love is not a Bob Marley song. That is a Curtis Mayfield song.

James Brown = NFL

Bob Marley = EPL

Stateside, James has had a bigger impact overall and his music has touched various genres and artists. When MLK got shot and JB was in Boston, he put on that free show and was able to keep everything calm. Fairly certain Bob had a similar situation when there was a presidential election in Jamaica between two rival parties (Manley vs. ???). Not sure younger generations know about Bob and James from that perspective.

Bob is a bigger icon globally. He was a great musician in his own right but I think "who" he is and what he represented stretches further than his musical impact. Plus Bob died early so there's a 'Tupacification' of his legacy. I'd be curious to see how he would be viewed if he was still alive today...or at least lived as long as James.

JB is quintessentially black American...white people here aren't wearing JB t-shirts. They WILL sport a Bob Marley shirt and probably not even know a song beyond 3-Little Birds.
