True. But we've seen LeBron make numerous plays and put in consistent effort on defense since at least 2009(yall got me out here defending Bron
).It's very difficult to play consistent defense when you shoulder the offensive load that Harden does however, he's looked at as a superstar so he's going to held to a pretty high standard on that end.
Fortunately for guys like Steph and Westbrook, PGs aren't necessarily looked to for lockdown defense and the ability to make the important play of defense. Harden is at a position where there is a legacy of pretty good two way players. Even guys like Reggie and Ray Allen played pretty consistent defense even though they might not have been very good at it.

I forgot about him. They have done it to him a couple times too lately. But I see guys getting caught sleeping on cuts and backdoor plays a few times per game and it never gets mentioned. Darren Collison had an awful one and left Clarkson open for a wide open 3 and ESPN said nothing. The average fan has no idea how to judge defense, they just go by what ESPN or other media outlets spoonfeed them.

James harden does that on a regular basis and is known for his atrocious defense though. That's why he gets called out for it, add to the fact that he's under a microscope because he's the leader in Houston. So of course he's gonna get called out more than any other player.
